About Sparring & Combat Drills (Kumite)
This isn't about shadow boxing. Every session here is about real-time reaction. You will need your own gloves and shin guards because we practice full-contact drills. I watch every student to correct their stance and timing, making sure that when you execute a kick, it has the speed and power to score in a real match.
Karate is not just a form, it is a fight. My sessions focus on the reality of Shito-ryu, where timing, distance, and explosive movement decide the winner.
We start with the basics—proper warm-ups and agility conditioning using hurdles and cones—before moving into the core: Kumite. I incorporate 'Ichi, Ni, San' counting to build rhythm, but then we switch to free sparring. You will face different partners to learn how to adapt your strategy against taller, faster, or more defensive opponents.
Whether you are a black belt looking to sharpen your competition game or an intermediate student wanting to break through a plateau, this training is for you. We focus on:
- Reaction Speed: Drilling how to close distance instantly.
- Combinations: Learning how to chain attacks together so your opponent cannot predict your next move.
- Mental Toughness: Staying calm when the pressure is high.
This is a space for those who are serious. We train for tournaments, but more importantly, we train to be better than we were yesterday. Bring your gear, bring your focus, and be ready to sweat.
