I love mixing textures, like this cool denim paired with a playful plaid hem. The little bow with hearts adds a sweet, unexpected touch to this unique design.

A classic combination of peach polka dots on a white background. The wide satin bow at the waist adds a touch of elegance and defines the silhouette beautifully.

This peach-colored dress features a bodice with intricate floral embroidery and a delicate lace trim. A satin bow completes this sweet and sophisticated design.

About The Art of the Dress: A Closer Look at the Details

Every dress I design starts with a choice of fabric that balances style with comfort. Whether it is a soft cotton mulmul lining to prevent irritation or a precisely gathered 3-layer skirt for volume, my focus is on construction that feels as good as it looks. I build every piece to last, incorporating internal growth margins so the dress stays a favorite for longer.

A Legacy of Craftsmanship

Since 1989, I have been stitching dresses from my Mumbai studio. My approach to design has always been simple: clothing should empower the child. This means moving beyond standard off-the-rack manufacturing to create pieces where every bow, collar, and hem serves a purpose.

Construction and Volume

I prioritize movement. For party wear, I utilize a 3-layer skirt construction using Japanese satin or organza. This method creates the volume you see in the photos without relying on uncomfortable wire cages or heavy tulle that can scratch delicate skin. By using a supportive mid-layer and a soft cotton or crepe lining, I ensure the dress keeps its shape while remaining comfortable for an entire afternoon of play.

The Finishing Touches

Details are where the 'Doyne's magic' happens. My embellishments are not just attached; they are integrated into the design.

  • Hand-Placed Lace: Whether it is floral appliqué on a bodice or a cascading trim, I place these by hand to ensure symmetry and durability.
  • Signature Bows: Every oversized satin bow is hand-tied and secured to maintain its shape, providing that polished silhouette.
  • Growth-Focused Design: Children grow quickly. I include internal margins in my custom work, allowing for adjustments as she grows, so the dress isn't limited to a single season.

Finding Your Style

Whether you are looking for a casual cotton frock with a Peter Pan collar or a luxury ballgown with hand-placed beading, I work with you to select fabrics that suit the occasion and the Mumbai climate. My goal is to ensure that when your little one wears a Doyne's dress, she feels confident, comfortable, and ready for her next adventure.

I have been designing and stitching dresses in Mumbai since 1989. When I look at a finished dress, I am not just checking seams; I am imagining the little girl who will wear it and how she will feel. My goal is to craft pieces that celebrate her individuality, one bow and stitch at a time.
