June is for Disco: Bollywood Remix Series

A monthly deep dive into Bollywood disco flips, where I reimagine classic anthems with modern, heavy-hitting production. Listen to how these old-school tracks sound when they are rebuilt for a 2025 club floor.

Announcing the start of my "June = Disco" remix series. The first drop was a disco flip of the iconic "Jimmy Jimmy", kicking off a month of reimagined Bollywood disco bangers.

Week two of the disco series. This time, I mashed up the Bollywood disco hit "Tamma Tamma" with the global viral groove of "Makeba" for a track built for the dancefloor.

For week three of my disco series, I imagined what would happen if Nazia Hassan's "Boom Boom" had a baby with "Body Funk". This funky remix is the result.

About this collection

When I produced this series, I had to balance the original nostalgia with modern club requirements. Every track here is quantized to a strict 126 BPM grid, meaning you can drop these files directly into your DJ software and mix them seamlessly without worrying about tempo drift.

Making Disco Modern

I started the 'June is for Disco' series because I noticed a gap on the dancefloor. People love the melody of 80s and 90s Bollywood tracks, but the original recordings often lack the low-end punch and consistent tempo needed for a modern club set. My goal with these flips was to take icons like Nazia Hassan or the 'Tamma Tamma' energy and give them the sonic weight they deserve in 2025.

The Technical Side

Each remix goes through a specific workflow in my Bellandur studio:

  • Beat Reinforcement: I layer punchy kicks and crisp hi-hats over the original percussion to ensure the track cuts through large club sound systems.
  • DJ-Ready Structure: I add 16 or 32-beat instrumental intros and outros. If you are a DJ, you know how painful it is to mix a track with vocals starting at the 0:00 mark. I fix that.
  • Clean Deliverables: You get these as 24-bit WAV files, not compressed junk. I master them to standard LUFS levels so your set doesn't fluctuate in volume when you switch from a commercial track to my remix.

Why This Works

Whether it is mashing up 'Jimmy Jimmy' or blending funk elements with disco, the focus is always on the mixability. I don't just add bass; I look at the harmonic compatibility of the original track and ensure the new instrumentation respects the key. If you are looking to add some retro flair to your upcoming DJ sets or choreography mixes, these edits are designed to be dropped and played immediately.
