About Featured
Every painting in this collection starts with freehand sketching and a deep respect for tradition. I use genuine 22-carat gold leaf and traditional Gesso embossing to create that signature depth, ensuring each piece is not just a decorative image, but a lasting piece of devotion for your home.
For over three decades, I have dedicated my life to the practice of Mysore painting. This art form is much more than applying paint to a surface. It is a slow, meditative process.
My work typically follows a precise path. First, I sketch the deity freehand, capturing the specific expressions and postures that define our traditions. Next, I apply Gesso, a traditional paste that creates a raised, embossed effect. This is the stage where the jewelry and arches on the deities gain their three-dimensional quality. Only after the Gesso is set and dried do I begin the delicate work of applying 22-carat gold leaf, which gives the painting its characteristic divine glow. The final stage involves detailed coloring with watercolors and fine brushes to bring the scene to life.
This cluster features a mix of my commissioned works and snippets from my online workshops. Whether it is a portrait of Lord Ganesha, the Shiva Kutumba, or the goddess Lakshmi, my goal is always the same: to create a piece that feels like a blessing in your pooja room.
If you are interested in learning this craft, my online workshops are structured to bring these same techniques to you, regardless of your location. My daughter, Amulya, assists with live translations during classes, so we can work together on freehand sketching, Gesso preparation, and gold leafing. You can explore these featured pieces to see the level of detail I teach and produce, and if you feel a connection to a particular style or subject, please reach out so we can discuss bringing a similar piece into your home.
