Invite the divine presence of Lord Shiva and his family into your home. Each traditional Mysore painting is crafted by hand, layer by layer, using 22-karat gold leaf and time-honored techniques.

From the first stroke to the final detail, this video shows Lord Shiva's divine face taking form. The beauty of Mysore painting lies in these intricate details, which complete his powerful presence.

About Divine Gallery: The Shaiva Tradition

Every piece in this collection follows the traditional Mysore process: we start with a precise freehand sketch, apply gesso paste for 3D relief, and finish with pure 22-karat gold leaf. Because these are hand-painted to order, you can choose specific elements like the size or the inclusion of Nandi or baby Ganesha to suit your pooja room’s dimensions.

Mysore painting is a practice of patience. When I paint the Shaiva tradition—capturing the serenity of Mahadeva in meditation or the playful bond within the Shiva Kutumba—it is not merely about creating an image, but about bringing a piece of devotion into your space.

The Traditional Process

We honor the techniques passed down through generations:

  • Freehand Sketching: Every piece begins with a detailed sketch drawn by hand, ensuring that the deity's expression is perfect before any paint touches the board.
  • Gesso Art: We apply a traditional gesso paste to create 3D relief work, which gives the jewellery and arches on the painting their distinct, tangible depth.
  • Gold Leaf Application: This is the hallmark of true Mysore art. We use pure 22-karat gold leaf, which catches the light in a pooja room, adding a radiant glow to the deity.
  • Watercolour Detailing: The final stage involves fine-line detailing with poster colours and watercolours to define the features, clothing, and background scenery.

Customization for Your Home

Because each painting is created fresh, you are not limited to a catalogue. If you have a specific vision—perhaps Shiva with Parvati, or a scene featuring the entire family including baby Ganesha and Murugan—we can incorporate those details. We typically work on high-quality wooden boards that are durable and meant to last as family heirlooms. Whether you need a compact piece for a small alcove or a larger composition for a dedicated prayer wall, the proportions are adjusted to fit your requirements. If you are interested in learning how to create these yourself, we also offer online workshops where I demonstrate these exact steps with live translation by Amulya.
