About Open Mics: Your Stage, Your Voice

Our open mic at Two Roads Studio isn't about being perfect; it's about being real. It is a shoe-free, intimate environment with floor seating where you get a strictly monitored 3-4 minute slot to perform your own original work, surrounded by a supportive crowd that truly listens.

We started these sessions to move poetry out of the classroom and onto the floor. When you walk into our Connaught Place studio, you are not stepping into a formal theater with judges or pressure. You are walking into a space that feels like a living room. Whether you are a student, a working professional, or a seasoned artist, our open mics are designed to be a bindaas environment where vulnerability is celebrated.

What to Expect

  • The Format: We prioritize original pieces. Whether you are reading from a journal or reciting from memory, your authenticity is what matters. We keep slots short (3-4 minutes) to ensure everyone gets a fair chance.
  • The Community: The mahaul is what makes these nights unique. Our audience is just as important as our performers. Expect to see people from all walks of life—people who show up specifically to listen, empathize, and cheer for the stranger who just shared a piece about grief, mental health, or joy.
  • Language Diversity: Hindi, Urdu, English, Maithili—we celebrate the linguistic tapestry of India. If it's a language you feel, it's a language we want to hear.

We provide the mic, the sound setup, and the refreshments. You just bring your words. If you have never performed before, this is the safest place to start. You will find that our community is less about technical perfection and more about the connection between the person on stage and the person sitting on the cushion listening.
