At Delhi Poetry Slam, poetry isn’t just for the pros or the big city crowd. Hamara maksad hai (Our aim is) to help anyone with a voice get heard, whether you’re writing from a small town or a metro. I know what it feels like to want your words to matter, to want them in a real book.
Book Deals & Competitions
If you dream of holding your own poetry book, that’s actually possible here. The main route? Winning the annual Wingword Poetry Prize. The winner gets a solo book deal - we take care of editing, design, printing, and even throw a proper New Delhi book launch. Past winners like Divnoor Kaur did it, so can you. This is more than a poetry competition book deal - it can be your break.

Not ready for your own book? You can be part of an Indian poetry anthology through our competitions, global World Poetry Project, or by joining The Writer's Launchpad. Your work could be sitting next to poets from all over the country - sometimes the world. You’ll get a merit certificate too.
Monthly Magazine
We run Beetle Magazine for regular literary magazine submissions in India. Submit, get featured, and keep your poetry muscle active. There’s always an open door.
Who’s Welcome?
Most projects are for Indian poets, but a few are open worldwide. Poems in English, Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, and Bishnupriya Manipuri have all found a place with us.

My Story
We’re Poetry Slam, but honestly, we’re more like a big, noisy family than anything else. Started out wanting to make some noise for poetry in India, ended up finding poets from every gali (lane) and city. Doctors, students, engineers, homemakers - English, Hindi, Maithili, sab milke likhte hain (everyone writes together). We’ve given out prizes, published books, but really, we just want to create a space where poetry heals, rebels, and connects. Mandir masjid ka hungama, par poetry insaan bana deti hai (We fight over temples and mosques, but poetry makes us human). That’s what keeps us going.
My Work
Poetry Events & Services - We run spoken word open mics, host Wingword Poetry Prize, lead writing workshops, offer mentorship, publish books, and organise meet-ups.
Wingword Poetry Prize - Our big annual contest for poets in India. Cash prizes, publishing deals, and poems accepted in English, Hindi, and more.
Spoken Word & Open Mics - Regular shows and slams across Delhi NCR. If you’re new, come watch or perform—see how the pros do spoken word open mic Delhi.
