About Community & Networking

Who We Are

Delhi Poetry Slam isn’t just a stage - it’s our tribe. We started out wanting to lift up poetic voices, but now we’re more like a big, weird family (“DelSlam fam”), all about real connections and having each other’s back. Some folks walk in solo, but trust me, you rarely leave alone.

Our Studio & Vibe

Our spot near Connaught Place is aapka space (your space). It’s cozy, got indoor and outdoor nooks, and you can actually relax and be yourself. You’ll find everything set up for performances - mic, projector, speakers. What’s special? The vibe is welcoming, whether you’re sharing work or just hanging out over chai and pizza. Sometimes we even go full Bengali lunch mode - because, let’s be honest, food brings the best conversations.

How We Connect

We run open mics and meet-ups so you can dip your toes, speak up, or just listen. The only thing we ask: be kind, be encouraging. Our Chai & Poetry sessions are chill and perfect for students - think 60-second poetry challenges and lots of chai-paani (tea and snacks). It’s super low pressure, especially if you’re new.

Beyond Our Walls

We’re more than Delhi. Thanks to the Wingword Poetry Prize and online projects, our creative community hub stretches across India and even the globe. We hold online conferences so you can plug into a global writers network, whether you’re in Delhi or somewhere far away.

Looking for open mic connections or a true artistic support system? You’ll find it here.

My Story

We’re Poetry Slam, but honestly, we’re more like a big, noisy family than anything else. Started out wanting to make some noise for poetry in India, ended up finding poets from every gali (lane) and city. Doctors, students, engineers, homemakers - English, Hindi, Maithili, sab milke likhte hain (everyone writes together). We’ve given out prizes, published books, but really, we just want to create a space where poetry heals, rebels, and connects. Mandir masjid ka hungama, par poetry insaan bana deti hai (We fight over temples and mosques, but poetry makes us human). That’s what keeps us going.
