Why We Do What We Do
I started Delhi Poetry Slam because I wanted people to feel heard—no matter if you’re from a tiny gaon (village) or stuck in Delhi’s madness. Here, your words aren’t just read, they’re felt. We’re not just a bunch of writers, we’re a tribe.
What’s Different Here
- Small, close-knit groups (12-16 max) so you actually get feedback and real connections.
- Workshops at our Connaught Place studio, online on Zoom, or hybrid for those who want a mix.
- Spoken word coaching and performance tips, so if the stage scares you, we’ve got your back.
- Flash fiction workshops and deep dives into narrative fiction—quick stories or long ones, you get guidance from pro writers.
- Multilingual sessions: Hindi, English, whatever you speak at home—bring it in.

My Story
We’re Poetry Slam, but honestly, we’re more like a big, noisy family than anything else. Started out wanting to make some noise for poetry in India, ended up finding poets from every gali (lane) and city. Doctors, students, engineers, homemakers - English, Hindi, Maithili, sab milke likhte hain (everyone writes together). We’ve given out prizes, published books, but really, we just want to create a space where poetry heals, rebels, and connects. Mandir masjid ka hungama, par poetry insaan bana deti hai (We fight over temples and mosques, but poetry makes us human). That’s what keeps us going.
My Work
Poetry Events & Services - We run spoken word open mics, host Wingword Poetry Prize, lead writing workshops, offer mentorship, publish books, and organise meet-ups.
Wingword Poetry Prize - Our big annual contest for poets in India. Cash prizes, publishing deals, and poems accepted in English, Hindi, and more.
