Here, we turn trash into treasure. From upcycled bottle planters to cardboard robots, I teach children how to create responsibly while having loads of fun.

As an educator, I feel it's important to make sustainable choices. I urge paint companies to offer larger tempera color bottles to reduce plastic waste from the small pots that we use so frequently in our art classes.

Our spring camp included a session on sustainable planting. The children decorated recycled glass jars and learned how to pot a plant, a simple yet impactful lesson in caring for nature.

Day 3 of our spring camp focused on developing motor skills through sustainable crafts. The children created beautiful toys and crafts using upcycled materials, learning that waste can be turned into treasure.

About Our Sustainable & Eco-Friendly Approach

We do not just use standard supplies; we make art out of what we have at home. When we do a craft project, whether it is building a toy or painting a pot, we talk about why we are not using new plastic. I encourage kids to bring old cardboard boxes or glass jars from home so they learn that being creative does not mean buying more stuff—it means looking at what you have differently.

Being thoughtful towards Mother Earth is not a side topic here; it is the core of how we run our studio in C.R. Park.

When we do art, we are conscious of the waste we create. For example, instead of buying endless small plastic pots of paint that end up in landfills, I urge fellow educators and parents to look for larger bottles. It is a small change, but it makes a big difference.

In our daily sessions, this approach translates into how we choose our materials:

  • Upcycling: We turn empty glass jars into decorative planters and discarded cardboard into robots or periscopes.
  • Conscious Crafting: During our camps, we discuss why reusing a box is better than buying a new kit. The kids learn to see value in 'waste.'
  • Nature-First Mindset: Whether we are painting or doing a clay activity, we keep the conversation going about nature and sustainability.

This is not just about making a craft to take home. It is about building a mindset where a child stops, thinks, and decides to save a material instead of throwing it away. My goal is to show them that we can create responsibly, paint joyfully, and live in harmony with our planet.

If you are looking for an environment where your child learns to be creative, kind, and responsible, come join our small, calm batches. We keep the groups small—just 6 to 10 children—so I can give personal attention to every single child as they build, paint, and learn to care for the world around them.

I am the heart behind Curious Minds, where we trade screens for messy clay tables and upcycled crafts. I believe kids need more than paint and paper; they need space to shout, breathe, and learn that creativity is about saving the planet, na!
