Cat & Exotic Pet Photography
Cats, birds, and other unique companions have a world of their own. I focus on capturing their true personality through candid, unposed moments that reveal who they really are.
A grumpy-looking but beautiful cat peeking from behind a curtain. Capturing the unique and sometimes sassy personality of cats is always a fun challenge.
A majestic ginger cat owning the sidewalk. I love capturing street cats and telling the stories of our urban animal companions.
A cat and its Doraemon toy. This sweet, playful moment shows the bond between a pet and their favorite comfort item.
A black cat intensely focused on its paper ball toy. These moments of focused play make for great, dynamic photos.
A beautiful calico cat, peeking out from behind a blanket. Her curious and gentle nature is perfectly captured.
Two cats, one grumpy and one curious, observing the world from their window. A perfect snapshot of feline personalities.
A cat in a harness, looking out the window. A quiet, contemplative moment that speaks volumes.
A ginger street cat posing with confidence against a bright red wall. They have so much character.
Two street cats, masters of their domain, observing the world go by. I love the stories that street photography can tell.
Mushi the cat, walking with swag. Even community cats have a runway-model attitude that's a joy to photograph.
About Cats & Other Friends
Cats operate on their own clock, and that is exactly how I like to photograph them. Instead of trying to force a specific pose, I spend time letting them settle into their space so I can capture those honest, blink-and-you-miss-it expressions—whether they're feeling curious, grumpy, or just ready for a nap.
Photographing cats is a different league compared to dogs. While a dog might respond to a command or a treat, a cat is rarely interested in performing. My approach is to become a quiet observer in their environment. Whether it's a community cat roaming a sidewalk with confidence or a shy house cat peering from behind a curtain, I wait for the moment where they forget I am there.
Why the approach matters
- Patience is key: Cats often take time to trust a new person with a camera. I prioritize letting them sniff my gear and get comfortable before I take a single shot.
- Respecting boundaries: If a cat wants to hide, we wait. If they want to play, we chase. My job is to document their comfort, not to manufacture a scene.
- Rescue and empathy: My work often extends to animal rescues, like capturing stories of birds or cats that haven't had the easiest start. These portraits are about showing resilience and beauty, reminding us of the dignity every animal deserves.
From the calm gaze of a calico at home to the wild, independent energy of a street cat, I love finding the story in the smallest details. If you have a unique pet and want photos that feel like them—not like a stiff, staged portrait—let's chat.
