This is where I share my daily riyaaz, the traditional raags I practice, and the classical recordings I hold closest to my heart.

A snippet of Raag Vachaspati from a sitar duet performance with my elder brother Chirag Katti and Amit Kavthekar on tabla. This is a great example of a traditional Hindustani classical recording.

A moment of musical connection with my brother during our sitar duet recording. Performing classical music together is a special experience that I cherish.

Recording a sitar recital for All India Radio, accompanied by my dear friend Swapnil Bhise on tabla. This was a proud moment, as it was my first recording after being awarded the 'A' grade by AIR.

My morning riyaaz, exploring the depths of Raag Miya ki Todi. This daily practice is essential for my discipline and keeps my connection to the core of Indian classical music strong.

Diving into one of my favorite afternoon raags, Raag Bhimpalas. These informal sessions are where I often find new inspiration and refine my technique.

Playing a composition in Raag Bhatiyar, a beautiful morning raag. This performance captures the serene and devotional mood that is characteristic of traditional sitar recitals.

A wide shot of our trio during the recording of our Sitar duet album. The setup shows the professional microphones and arrangement we use to capture the authentic sound of a live classical performance.

About Hindustani Classical & Riyaaz

Recording classical music requires a different approach than standard studio work—it demands immense patience to preserve the raw, organic resonance of the sitar. Whether we are tracking a morning raag like Miya ki Todi or layering a complex duet, I focus on capturing the 'Jwari' (buzz) and the natural vibrations without losing the soul of the instrument. My 'A' grade status from All India Radio reflects the discipline I bring to every session, ensuring the sound remains clean, authentic, and true to the raag's structure.

The Discipline of Riyaaz

For me, music isn't just a service; it's a daily practice. My morning riyaaz, where I explore the intricacies of raags like Raag Vachaspati or Raag Bhimpalas, is the foundation of everything I do. When you hire me for a recording, you aren't just getting an instrumentalist; you are getting someone who lives and breathes this classical discipline every single day.

Classical Recording & Studio Expertise

I bridge the gap between traditional Indian classical performance and modern production needs.

  • Gayaki Ang: I specialize in the 'gayaki ang' style, mimicking vocal curves and nuances, which adds a layer of emotional depth often missing in digital instrument tracking.
  • Studio Protocol: I understand the technical demands of a high-end mix. My recordings are performed with high-precision tuning, tailored to sit perfectly within your track's frequency spectrum, whether it is for a film background score, a devotional album, or a fusion project.
  • Collaborative Flow: Music is meant to be shared. From performing duets with my elder brother, Chirag Katti, to recording with talented tabla players like Swapnil Bhise, I am comfortable collaborating with other artists to create a unified, harmonious sound.

What to Expect

Whether you are looking for a solo recital piece, background music for a film that needs an authentic classical touch, or instructional sessions, I approach every project with the same focus. I am comfortable working with Western Staff notation or Indian Sargam, and I am always happy to consult on raag selection to ensure the mood matches your project's chord progressions.

I am Chintan, and the sitar has been the rhythm of my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up surrounded by music and sharing this journey with my brother Chirag has shaped how I play and teach. Whether I am sitting for my morning riyaaz or layering tracks in a studio, I try to keep the soul of the tradition alive in every note.
