Authentic Hindustani Classical Ragas for Studio & Film Projects
Deeply rooted in the Hindustani classical tradition, I offer sitar sessions ranging from meditative alap to intricate taankari for your next musical project.
Here I am practicing some fast and intricate taankari in Raag Desh. This level of technical skill is something I bring to every recording, ensuring a polished and authentic Hindustani classical sound for your track.
A short exploration of Raag Jogkauns, focusing on the alap section. This demonstrates the slow, mood-setting introductions I can provide for a classical piece.
Practicing some taans for a bandish in Raag Marwa. This shows my ability to play complex, fast-paced phrases which can add excitement and virtuosity to a track.
A short taan progression in Raag Bihag. This is an example of the structured, melodic runs I can perform, which are essential for authentic classical recordings.
A short, meditative alap in Raag Vrindavani Sarang recorded in a studio environment. This demonstrates the kind of calm, atmospheric texture I can create for background scores or ambient tracks.
Playing the Jod section in Raag Jinjhoti. This part of a raga performance builds rhythm and pace, a skill I use to create dynamic progression in studio tracks.
An attempted alap in Raag Rageshree. Every practice session is a chance to connect deeper with the raga and refine the emotional delivery for my recordings.
A brief exploration of Raag Purya. This showcases my ability to interpret and perform evening ragas, each with its own distinct mood and character.
About Hindustani Classical Ragas
When you book me for a project, we can choose the approach that works best for your workflow. If you are in Bengaluru, I am happy to join you at your studio for a live session where we can direct the performance together. For remote projects, I record from my home setup, providing you with high-quality, dry WAV stems that are ready for your mixing engineer to drop straight into the track.
My foundation is built on years of training under my gurus, Sri Vijay B Gonahalu and Pandit Arvind Parikh ji. This grounding allows me to offer authentic performance for a variety of needs, whether you are scoring a film, producing a fusion track, or need a specific classical texture for a background score.
How I Work
Every raga carries a specific mood, and I work with you to understand the emotional intent of your track. My recordings include:
- Alap & Jod: Slow, atmospheric introductions and rhythmic progressions perfect for building tension or setting a scene.
- Taankari: Complex, fast-paced melodic runs that bring virtuosity and energy to a composition.
- Technical Specs: I deliver 24-bit/48kHz raw audio stems. This ensures your sound engineer has full control over reverb, compression, and EQ during the mixing process.
My Approach to Collaboration
I do not believe in forcing a sound. If your track needs a subtle, sparse sitar line in Raag Vrindavani Sarang to create a calm space, I will play that. If you need the rapid-fire intensity of Raag Desh or the evening depth of Raag Purya, I adapt my technique to fit the narrative. I am comfortable working with directors and music producers who have a clear vision, and I am equally happy to offer suggestions on how Raga theory can support your arrangement.
Whether you need a single 5-minute track or a full background suite with composition support, my goal is to ensure the sitar feels like a natural extension of your music, not an afterthought.
