We create targeted, play-based modules led by expert therapists to help children develop foundational skills, from motor planning and handwriting to executive functioning, in a supportive group environment.

Our Move and Groove group uses occupational therapy to help children with sensory processing concerns and motor planning skills. Through movement and play, we help build confidence for everyday life.

This graphic explains Praxis Skills, which are the brain's ability to plan and carry out movement. Our Move and Groove group is specifically designed to strengthen these skills, helping children with coordination and following instructions.

Executive Functioning Skills are the brain's self management tools. This infographic shows how they help with attention, impulse control, and planning, all of which we work on in our therapeutic groups.

When children struggle with praxis, they may have difficulty with multi step directions or tasks like getting dressed. Our groups provide a supportive environment to practice these sequencing skills.

Why do motor planning and executive functioning matter? These foundational skills are crucial for independence at school and home, emotional regulation, academic success, and social participation.

Why choose Children First for occupational therapy? We offer small, supportive groups led by trained therapists, a child centered, playful approach, and a focus on building real world skills and confidence.

Our Scribbles and Strokes module strengthens the foundational skills for writing and fine motor activities. In a supportive small group setting, we use creative games and movement to help children aged 7 to 12.

What are Grapho-Motor Skills? This infographic explains the physical actions that allow a child to write, from holding a pencil to forming letters, which are built on a foundation of physical and visual abilities.

Sometimes struggles with writing are not just about "bad handwriting." This visual explains underlying challenges like poor posture, hand eye coordination, or delayed fine motor skills that we address in our programs.

In our grapho motor skills sessions, we focus on key areas to support writing. These include postural control, gross and fine motor skills, visual perception, and executive function skills like attention and memory.

About Specialized Skill-Building Groups

We run these sessions as clinical spaces, not classrooms. Each group is led by a trained Occupational Therapist who uses movement, sensory tools, and collaborative games to address specific challenges like motor planning, handwriting, or executive functioning. By capping cohorts at 4 to 6 children, we make sure your child receives real-time guidance while learning to navigate social dynamics in a supportive, play-based environment.
