Inclusive Community Events for Children
We create sensory-safe, inclusive spaces where children can celebrate and connect. Join us for events designed to prioritize belonging over social expectations.
Holi at Children First means celebrating in a way that is joyful, safe, and sensory friendly. We use natural powders made from spinach and flowers, make rangolis, and tie dye shirts for a celebration everyone can enjoy.
Our Diwali Melas are designed for inclusion. We replace loud crackers with food stalls, games, and skits. Therapists are always present for support, and every child can participate or just have fun in our sensory safe spaces.
Our picnics, whether for toddlers or older kids in our 'Bridges to School' program, are thoughtfully planned. We head to parks with familiar snacks and plenty of space for children to explore at their own pace, with therapists guiding interactions.
As part of Autism Acceptance Month, our team organized a sensory friendly movie screening. We believe in building a community of concern by collaborating with partners to create inclusive experiences for all children.
This video captures the joy of our sensory friendly movie screening, hosted in partnership with PVR Nest for Autism Acceptance Month. We adjusted the environment to be comfortable and safe, allowing children to just be themselves and have fun.
A key takeaway from our parenting session with Dr. Shelja Sen is to celebrate the child who is right in front of you. This clip reminds us to move away from comparison and embrace our children for who they already are.
About Community Events & Inclusive Celebrations
Our events replace the chaos of traditional celebrations with a 'community of care' approach. Whether it is a Diwali mela without loud crackers or a movie screening with adjusted volume, we ensure environments are sensory-safe so children can participate exactly as they are, without pressure or overwhelming stimuli.
At Children First, we believe that 'fitting in' should never be the goal—belonging is. Our community events are intentionally designed to be sensory-safe, meaning we control the environment to match the needs of the children attending.
During festivals like Holi, we trade harsh chemicals for natural colors and focus on tactile play. For our Diwali melas, we remove loud crackers and noise, replacing them with activities that encourage interaction without sensory overload. Our movie screenings are adapted, with lower sound levels and flexible seating so children can move, use sensory tools, or take breaks whenever they need to.
These gatherings serve a dual purpose. They provide a safe space for children to socialize and practice boundaries, while also creating a network for parents to meet others who understand their journey. We partner with spaces like PVR Nest to bring these experiences into the real world, helping bridge the gap between clinical settings and public life. If you are looking for an environment where your child can simply be themselves, we welcome you to join our next gathering.
