Adding a unique touch to your saree or blouse goes beyond standard embroidery. Whether you prefer traditional Kalamkari painting or textured appliqué work, I create designs that turn your fabric into art.

This blouse back features a hand-painted Kalamkari design of Yashoda and Krishna. I've added highlights with thread and beadwork to bring the traditional painting to life with texture and sparkle.

A custom hand-painted saree and blouse set. The design features traditional duck and lotus motifs painted along the border and pallu of the saree, with matching artwork on the blouse sleeves.

For this child's dress, I used an appliqué technique with Gajji silk and Kalamkari prints. The colorful lotus flowers are cut and stitched onto the skirt, creating a vibrant and textured design perfect for a little one.

About Hand-Painted & Appliqué Artistry

When you choose hand-painting or appliqué, you are adding a layer of artistry that machine embroidery cannot replicate. I personally cure all hand-painted fabrics so the motifs stay vibrant and water-resistant, while my appliqué work focuses on balancing heavy textures like Gajji silk so the design pops without adding uncomfortable weight to your saree or blouse.

The Art of Hand-Painting

Hand-painting allows for a level of fluidity and expression that traditional stitching cannot capture. Whether it is a traditional Kalamkari scene of Krishna or a delicate Pichwai motif, I work directly on the fabric to ensure the proportions fit your blouse back or saree border perfectly. These pieces require time, as I focus on the shading and detailing of every petal and figure.

Texture Through Appliqué

Appliqué is about layering. I use contrasting fabrics to create 3D effects. By cutting and stitching patterns onto the base fabric, I can add depth to children's dresses, lehengas, or sarees. This is particularly effective for heavy silk fabrics where you want a festive look without the stiff feel of excessive zardosi work.

How We Work Together

If you have a concept in mind, let me know. We can start by discussing the base fabric—crepe, Kanchipuram silk, or velvet—and then decide on the placement. For hand-painted work, we will lock in the motifs first. For appliqué, we will select the color palette to ensure the layered fabrics complement your outfit.

Care Instructions

Because these are custom art pieces, they need care. I always recommend dry cleaning for hand-painted garments to preserve the paint integrity. For appliqué work, store them in a way that avoids pressing heavy items directly onto the textured motifs to keep the shape intact.
