About Training & Riding Lessons
We focus on real fundamentals—like the 'chin up, heels down' mantra—to ensure you are confident before you ever step out on the trails. Our floodlit arena is designed so you can fit your training sessions in after work or during cooler weekend hours without worrying about the sun going down.
Learning to ride at CanterWoods is about more than just staying in the saddle. It is about understanding the animal and the mechanics of the sport. We start in our enclosed, flat sand arena, which provides a controlled environment perfect for building muscle memory and learning basic commands like Start, Stop, and Turn.
Our Coaching Approach
Our training program is led by NCC-trained coaches who prioritize safety and correct form over everything else. We break down the equestrian basics into simple, manageable steps, whether you are interested in:
- Beginner Foundation: Focuses on balance, posture, and horse handling for first-timers.
- Dressage & Show Jumping: For riders looking to advance their technical skills and precision.
- Arena Control: Teaching you how to communicate with your horse through subtle shifts in weight and rein pressure.
Beyond the Arena
We believe the best riders are those who can handle varied environments. Once you master the fundamentals in our Gwal Pahari facility, our coaches can help you transition to the rugged terrain of the Aravali forest. We don't believe in quick fixes; we believe in building a rider who feels secure, whether in an arena or out on a 90-minute trail.
All lessons are conducted with sanitized gear, and we maintain a low rider-to-handler ratio to ensure you get personalized attention. If you are new, we encourage you to book a trial slot to meet our horses—like Zorawar and Akira—and see if our training style clicks with your goals.
CanterWoods
I’m Ashmit. At CanterWoods, I don't just want you to sit on a horse; I want you to understand how to talk to them. We keep things simple, safe, and grounded, using the same discipline I’ve picked up from our NCC-trained coaches.
