VBAC Preparation: Your Guide to Vaginal Birth After Cesarean

If you’ve had a previous C-section, a vaginal birth is a very real and safe possibility. My goal is to help you move past fear, understand your options, and prepare your body and mind for the birth you truly want.

VBAC Myth Busting #1: Low BMI. This mother, with a focused nutrition plan and Lamaze classes, had a victorious VBAC at 39 weeks, birthing a 3.04 kg baby after a previous C-section for a 2 kg baby.

VBAC Myth Busting #2: Low Fluid & Post-dates. After a previous C-section and spinal surgery, this mother went to 41 weeks and 4 days. Despite fears over a large baby, she had a successful VBAC after 24 hours of hard work.

A diagnosis of "low-lying placenta" at 20 weeks can cause unnecessary worry. In over 98% of cases, the placenta "migrates" up and away from the cervix as the uterus grows, resolving the issue on its own before birth.

My Labor & Comfort Measures class is essential for all birthing families, including those planning a VBAC. We focus on building confidence and providing the tools you need for a positive experience.

Movement prepares your body and mind for the demands of labor. My yoga sessions are particularly helpful for VBAC families, helping you connect with your body and trust its innate wisdom.

Prenatal fitness is crucial for a successful VBAC. My online sessions focus on strengthening muscles, developing breathing techniques, and improving sleep, giving you the stamina and resilience needed for labor.

About this collection

Achieving a VBAC isn't about luck; it’s about preparation and advocacy. We look at the specifics of your previous C-section, address common fears like "large baby" or "post-dates" anxiety, and use targeted labor positions to help your baby descend. My focus is helping you shift from wondering if it’s possible to actively preparing for your vaginal birth.

Moving from Fear to Informed Confidence

Many families come to me feeling like their choices were taken away after an unplanned or emergency C-section. My VBAC preparation classes are designed to flip that narrative. We don't just hope for a different outcome; we create a roadmap for it.

How We Prepare Together

  • Reviewing Your History: We analyze why your previous birth resulted in a C-section. Understanding the 'why' is the first step in deciding how to handle your next labor. We bust myths about 'uterine rupture' and 'failure to progress' with evidence-based, current data.
  • Physical Readiness: VBAC success often comes down to your physical preparation. We focus on specific exercises—including the Miles Circuit and deep lunges—to help your baby find the optimal position for descent. We also work on pelvic floor strength and endurance, because labor is a marathon.
  • Medical Advocacy (B.R.A.I.N): You need to know your rights. I teach you the B.R.A.I.N. acronym (Benefits, Risks, Alternatives, Intuition, Nothing) so you can confidently ask questions during appointments. This helps you communicate effectively with your care provider, ensuring your birth plan is respected.

The Role of Your Support Team

Your partner is not just a sidekick. In my sessions, we train them to be your advocate. They learn how to manage the labor environment, when to suggest movement changes, and how to help you stay calm during surges.

Whether you need help in English or Kannada, I am here to guide you through this journey. You are not a patient to be managed; you are a capable parent preparing for a normal, life-changing event.
