I do not just sit a plastic toy on top of a sponge. Every character, from Spiderman to Peppa Pig, is handcrafted from fondant and built to sit on a moist, layered buttercream cake. I treat the sculpture as an art piece and the cake as a dessert, so you get the visual impact without compromising on the flavour.
When you choose a character cake, the biggest trap is sacrificing taste for the look. My approach is to bridge that gap. I start with a structural, flavour-first foundation—moist sponge layers with premium buttercream—and then use fondant to create the specific details that define the theme.
Whether it is the Hulk smashing through a cake, or Peppa Pig in a detailed scene, I hand-sculpt these elements rather than relying on standard toppers. This means the character is edible, unique, and made to scale with your cake. For two-tier or taller creations, I use internal food-safe supports to ensure the structure holds up, especially with heavier, detailed models.
