About this collection
One quick reality check before you start: sketching is less about natural talent and more about training your eyes. We avoid generic copy-paste learning in our sessions. Instead, I show you how to break down complex subjects—like a beetle or a simple cupcake—into basic geometric shapes, light, and shadow.
Building Your Creative Foundation
Sketching is the backbone of all great art. In these sessions at our HSR Layout studio, we do not rush the process. We focus on the essential building blocks that make a drawing look real.
What we cover:
- Observation: Learning to see the world as shapes and negative space rather than just objects.
- Light & Shadow: Mastering the gradient, from the lightest highlight to the deepest core shadow using various pencil grades.
- Texture: Using tools like blending stumps or hatching techniques to bring your sketches to life with realistic surface detail.
How it works Classes are structured in 60-minute slots within small, manageable batches. This is not a lecture hall; it is a studio space where I rotate between students. You get individual attention to fix your technique rather than getting lost in the crowd.
A note on materials To keep costs flexible for you, we operate on a BYO (Bring Your Own) model. You will need to bring your own sketchbook, pencils, and erasers. This gives you the freedom to choose the brands you prefer and keep your materials at home for extra practice between classes.
Whether you are a teen preparing for design entrances or an adult looking to switch off from the daily grind, you will find a comfortable, fan-cooled space here to just draw and de-stress.
