There is an inherent royalty in the weight of velvet and the structure of brocade. This collection brings together rich fabrics and intricate zardosi to create pieces that feel timeless.

I'm explaining the design of Bhavana's Muhurtham blouse, from the jewel-like pendants to the custom name embroidery on the back.

About this collection

Velvet requires specific attention because of its weight and texture. I use heavy-duty double lining and reinforced seams to ensure that even with elaborate zardosi or pearl work, the neckline stays crisp and the blouse retains its structure without sagging. It is about balancing the richness of the fabric with the practical need to feel comfortable for hours on your big day.

When working with heavy fabrics like velvet and brocade, the construction must support the art. These materials are naturally heavier than silk or georgette, and without proper sculpting, they can feel cumbersome. My process involves adding specialized structural support inside the bodice, so the blouse stays perfectly in place, regardless of the density of the handwork on the sleeves or back.

The Katha in the Craft

Every piece in this collection tells a story, or a 'Katha.' Whether it is a traditional Jharokha motif inspired by temple architecture or a narrative scene featuring mythical figures, the fabric serves as my canvas. I often pair these rich textures with a mix of zardosi, Aari, and 3D floral work.

Customization for Your Event

  • Necklines: From closed, royal high necks to deep-U backs that allow for jewelry display, we tailor the silhouette to suit your comfort and style.
  • Personalization: You can add specific elements to your blouse, such as your wedding date or names, embroidered directly onto the fabric.
  • Versatility: These designs are not limited to one occasion. While they are a favorite for Muhurthams and winter weddings, they work beautifully for reception evenings when paired with the right accessories.

We start with a conversation about your vision and the story you want to wear. Once we align on the theme, I sketch the design, and we select the motifs and materials—be it antique gold zari, semi-precious stones, or pearls—that will bring the piece to life.
