Rich & Regal Velvet Blouse Designs
Velvet has a way of catching light that silks just cannot replicate. These blouses bring depth and luxury to any saree or lehenga, making them a personal favorite for receptions and winter weddings.
The back of a bridal maroon velvet blouse. The heavy zardozi work creates a pattern that is both intricate and symmetrical, fit for a queen.
The front of the same maroon velvet blouse, featuring a sweetheart neckline and delicate pearl detailing that drapes beautifully.

A classic black velvet blouse is a must-have in any wardrobe. I designed this one with a gold scalloped pattern and floral embroidery on the cuffs.

About this collection
Velvet is a stunning fabric to work with, but it has specific needs. Because it is heavier than silk, I use high-quality interfacing and canvas fusing to ensure the embroidery weight does not drag or lose shape. We also double-line the interior to keep it comfortable against your skin throughout the event.
Choosing velvet means you are opting for richness and depth. While many of my clients love traditional silk, velvet offers a unique texture that works beautifully for evening functions. When I design these, I keep the weight of the fabric in mind. Velvet is heavier than cotton or silk, so I use reinforced construction techniques to make sure the structure holds up, even with heavy zardozi or stone work.
For your reception or winter wedding, consider a sweetheart or deep U-neckline to balance the density of the velvet. I often pair these with metallic gold or antique copper embroidery to make the fabric pop. If you are styling this with a Kanjivaram saree, we can match the embroidery to the zari of your saree.
A few practical things to keep in mind:
- Cleaning: Velvet requires dry cleaning. Please do not iron directly on the embroidery or the fabric surface.
- Breathability: Because it is a dense fabric, I always use breathable, sweat-absorbent lining so you stay cool for longer.
- Customization: We can do corset-style backs or structured padding to give you a silhouette that feels secure and comfortable.
