Textured Canvas and Landscape Art Commissions
I build depth into every piece by layering high-relief textures with fluid resin, creating landscapes that you can actually feel.
This is the making of my "Land of Rising Sun" artwork for Arunachal Bhavan in Delhi. I used texture paste to build the mountains and resin for the water and sky to capture the serene beauty of Arunachal Pradesh.
From my chaotic studio to the final installation. This is the journey of the Arunachal Bhavan piece, looking beautiful at every stage.
Standing proud next to the finished installation with a key team member. This project was a huge collaborative effort, and I'm so grateful for the support.
This installation at Café Quaint reflects our vision of upcycling. We repurposed old dinner plates to create a wall pattern inspired by JKK's architecture, a DIY project that brings sustainability to the forefront.
About Textured Canvas & Landscapes
When I work on textured landscapes, I don't just paint. I layer high-relief texture paste to build the physical ground—like the mountains in my Arunachal Bhavan piece—and then pour resin to create that fluid, glassy water effect. It gives the artwork real dimension that you can see and touch, making the piece feel alive on your wall.
How I Approach Textured Landscapes
Every project is different, and that is exactly how it should be. For my textured landscapes, I often combine high-relief sculpting with translucent resin pours. This allows me to create a dual-finish: matte, rugged textures for land features like mountains or cliffs, and high-gloss, reflective resin for water bodies or skies.
The Process
It all starts with a 30-minute consultation. We talk about the energy you want in your space and the color palette that speaks to you. Before I start the actual work, I create a digital draft or mood board so we are on the same page regarding the composition.
- Base & Structure: Depending on the size (3 to 4 feet is standard for my landscapes), I use reinforced ply or blockboard to prevent any warping.
- Sculpting: I use heavy-body texture pastes or cement mixtures to build up to 2 inches of physical depth.
- Integration: I selectively pour tinted resin to represent water, layering it to catch the light from different angles.
Why This Matters
I believe art should be a conversation. Whether it is a large installation for an office lobby or a statement piece for your living room, I bring in my team for big jobs to ensure the mounting and lighting (I often include LED backlighting provisions) are perfect.
I have worked on projects ranging from large public art installations to intimate home pieces, and the philosophy remains the same: sustainability and soul. For example, at Café Quaint, we upcycled dinner plates to create a wall mural that echoes local architectural elements. If you are looking for art that has a story and a physical presence, let's talk.
