Custom Portraits: Capturing Your Soul
I turn your favorite photos into hand-painted or sketched memories. Whether it’s a detailed graphite portrait or a vibrant acrylic piece, I paint to capture the soul behind the expression.
A completed acrylic portrait on short paper. I focused on capturing the story in her eyes and the dramatic lighting on her face.
This video shows how the portrait of the woman comes to life, from the initial pencil sketch to the final brushstrokes that define her expression. The eyes say it all.
Another angle of the finished portrait, showing the rich colors and realistic details I can achieve with acrylics.
The portrait on my workspace, with a brush for scale. I take great care to make each custom portrait a special piece of art.
A miniature portrait of a smiling boy, capturing a moment of pure childhood joy. These are the best days of our lives, and art helps us remember them.
A different view of the childhood portrait, showing the small size and intricate detail of the work.
The portrait on my desk. I use fine brushes to paint these miniature pieces with as much realism as possible.
A portrait sketch of a sadhu. I used charcoal and pencil to capture the wisdom and character in his face, from his beard to his turban.
A custom pencil sketch of a fitness enthusiast from a photo. I can create detailed and realistic drawings that make for a unique and personal gift.
Another commissioned graphite sketch of a bodybuilder. My focus here was on capturing the muscle definition and the powerful physique.
About Custom Portraits: Capturing Your Soul
When you send me a photo, I don’t just copy the lines. I look for the emotion in the eyes—the yaadgar (memorable) spark that makes a person who they are. Whether it's a graphite sketch for a gift or a full acrylic painting for your wall, I work with you to decide the best medium, and I share progress updates along the way so you see your memory come to life, layer by layer.
My Approach to Custom Portraits
Painting is not just a job for me; it is a meditation. When you commission a portrait, you aren't just getting an image; you are getting a piece of time captured on paper or canvas.
The Process Every piece starts with your idea. I study the photo you send, focusing on the lighting and the unique character of the subject. If it is a charcoal or graphite sketch, I use professional-grade 200GSM paper to ensure it lasts. For acrylic portraits, I build up layers, which is why each piece can take anywhere from 25 to 70 hours to complete. I don't rush the drying time or the detailing; I take the time needed to make it look real.
What to Expect
- Reference Photos: High-resolution photos work best so I can see the details in the eyes and skin texture.
- Medium Choices: I work with graphite and charcoal for a classic, moody look, or acrylics for vibrant, rich colors.
- Protection: All my work is finished with a fixative or high-quality varnish to protect it from dust and UV damage.
Commissioning a Piece Whether it is a surprise gift for a loved one, a portrait of your pet, or a representation of a deity that brings you peace, I am here to bring that vision to life. If you have a specific size in mind or a complex multi-figure scene, let me know, and we can discuss the details. I ship my work safely across India, rolled securely in tubes or flat in reinforced envelopes to keep your artwork safe until it reaches you.
