Cosmic Mahadev & Shiva Paintings
I capture the cosmic stillness of Mahadev in deep blues and nebulas. Each painting is a prayer, handmade to bring a sense of peace to your space.
After 67 hours of hard work, this large 4x5 feet painting of Mahadev is complete. It shows him meditating in a cosmic setting, and it was a very special commission work.
This time-lapse shows the creation of the large cosmic Shiva painting. You can see the entire process, from the first strokes of paint to the final details on his form.
Here I am with two commissioned Mahadev paintings, one large and one small. It is an honor to create these pieces for fellow devotees. Om Namah Shivay.

Here, the background is complete, and I have blocked in the base color for Shiva's body. The form is starting to emerge from the canvas.
This video shows the early stages of the large Shiva painting, starting with the grid sketch and the first layers of background color.
Sometimes a painting needs changes. Here, I am reworking an older Shiva painting, adding more detail and depth to the cosmic background to make it more powerful.
About Cosmic Meditations: Shiva & The Universe
Every cosmic piece in this collection starts with a precise grid sketch on the canvas. It takes me anywhere from 30 to 70 hours to slowly build the layers, ensuring the galaxy background feels deep and Mahadev's expression remains peaceful. I finish each work with a coat of industrial-grade varnish, so the vibrant colors stay protected and vivid in your home.
When I paint Mahadev, I am not just creating an image. I am trying to translate the feeling of meditation into color. Whether it is a Tandav pose full of energy or a silent, cosmic meditation amidst the stars, I focus on the connection between the divine and the universe.
My Process
I work primarily with heavy-body acrylics on premium cotton canvas. For large-scale commissions (ranging from 24x30 to 36x48 inches), I use a glazing technique that builds depth, often mimicking the richness of oil paintings.
- The Sketch: Every large piece begins with a detailed grid. It helps me maintain the correct proportions for such grand figures.
- The Layers: I build the galaxy backgrounds first, moving from dark, moody shades to the vibrant highlights that represent the universe.
- The Finish: I use double-coating with professional varnish. This prevents dust and UV damage, ensuring the painting stays fresh.
Commissioning a Piece
If you have a specific vision, like a Ram Darbar scene or a custom cosmic Shiva for your pooja room, let me know. Because these works require intense focus and time, I usually schedule these commissions a few weeks in advance. My goal is to provide a piece that feels like a personal offering, not just a decoration. All my large canvases are shipped rolled in sturdy PVC tubes, safe and ready for you to stretch or frame locally. Let's create something meaningful together.
