Every brushstroke is a prayer. See how I transform a simple grid sketch into a spiritual, hand-painted canvas.

Here I am, adding the final touches to a custom-painted Kanha idol. This work is a form of meditation for me, offering a piece of my soul in every detail.

A 'before' photo of a Kanha idol, showing the original paintwork before I began my custom restoration and repainting.

A close-up of the 'after' result. I repainted the face with delicate details like lotus flowers and peacock feathers to give it a divine look.

The fully repainted and dressed Laddu Gopal idol. It is a blessing to express my faith through colors.

Another view of the finished Kanha idol. Every color and line is a silent prayer.

A photo of me painting a large Krishna portrait outdoors. I often find inspiration by working in different environments.

This acrylic painting of a mother and son in the rain took 4 hours. It's a simple scene, but it shows the powerful and unconditional love of a mother.

A work-in-progress video of a Radha Krishna painting. This clip shows the early stages of blocking in colors for Krishna's face and hair.

See the process behind my Little Krishna painting. It starts with a blank Faber-Castell canvas board and a detailed pencil sketch before I add the first layers of acrylic paint.

About The Artist's Process: From Sketch to Soul

When you commission a piece, we start with your vision, not just my style. I document the journey—from grid lines and initial sketches to the final varnish—so you are involved at every stage. Since each piece takes between 30 and 70 hours of layering to complete, I recommend planning your booking at least two weeks in advance, especially for large-scale canvases.

My process is rarely about speed. It is about patience. Whether I am working on a 24x30 inch Ram Darbar scene or a small, detailed portrait of Kanha, I follow the same path of devotion.

The Anatomy of a Painting

  • The Blueprint: Every canvas starts with a pencil sketch. I often use grid work for tricky portraits to ensure the proportions are right. For my clients, I share these initial stages so you can see where we are heading.
  • The Layering: I use heavy-body acrylics for my paintings. Because I build the image in layers, it takes time for the paint to dry and bond. This is why a single painting can take days or even weeks of work. It allows the colors to hold that depth you see in the photos.
  • The Protection: Once the painting is finished, I do not just hand it over. I finish every piece with a high-quality gloss varnish. This protects the art from UV rays and moisture, ensuring that the devotion poured into the canvas stays vibrant for years.

Technical Standards

I work on professional-grade surfaces, ranging from 300GSM heavy grain paper to rigid canvas boards. For large wall art, I use fine-grain primed cotton canvas rolls. If you are ordering a physical painting, I deliver it flat in reinforced envelopes or rolled in sturdy tubes to keep it safe during shipping.

My goal is to capture the feeling, not just the likeness. Whether it is the soft glow of a deity’s face or the texture of a rainy street, I paint until it feels right. If you have a specific scene or a moment you want to immortalize, we can discuss the best medium and scale for your space.

Namaste, I am Alok. I do not just paint; I try to find the divine in every line I draw. Whether it is a detailed portrait of Kanha or a custom landscape, I put my heart into it—with a lot of chai and patience along the way.
