Meet Karishma: The Artist Behind the Canvas
Welcome to my creative space. Here is a glimpse into the heart behind the sketches—the quiet moments, the workshops, and the love poured into every single stroke.
Lost in colors, searching for myself. This is me with the tools of my trade and the flowers that inspire me. Art is not just what I do, it's who I am.
A candid moment captured in my studio. This is where the magic happens, where I spend countless hours turning your precious memories into art.
A glimpse from my first ever art workshop at Shaheed Bhagat Singh College. It was a joy to share my process and passion for painting with so many enthusiastic students.
It was an honor to be invited as a judge for an art event at Sri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), Delhi University. Seeing the creativity of young artists is always so inspiring.
Finding a quiet moment to sketch, even when I'm out and about. Art is a constant companion.
A quick portrait I sketched while sitting at a cafe. I love capturing faces and the stories they tell, wherever I am.
Here I am, holding my finished self portrait. It's a strange and wonderful feeling to hold a piece that is so personal. This is the result of patience, practice, and a lot of love for my craft.
A quiet moment with my brushes and roses. The beauty of nature is a constant source of inspiration for my art.
Holding my brushes and flowers. These are the simple things that bring me joy and fuel my creativity.
Peeking over my paint palette. Every color holds a possibility, a new emotion to be expressed on paper.
About Meet the Artist
I believe art happens when you truly slow down. Whether I am teaching a live workshop at a college or sitting quietly with my charcoal pencils in my studio, I look for the story in every face. It is not just about the final sketch; it is about the hours spent finding the light in someone's eyes, and that is where the magic really lives.
My journey as an artist is rooted in devotion, or what I like to call my 'shanti' (peace). While many see a portrait as just a drawing, for me, it is a conversation between the subject and the page. I often share my process through workshops at venues like SRCC and Shaheed Bhagat Singh College because I believe that anyone can start creating if they just listen to their heart.
When I am not teaching, I am in my Delhi studio, usually hunched over a detailed charcoal or prismacolor commission. A single piece can take anywhere from 8 to 20 hours because I prioritize the technical details—skin texture, eye reflections, and fabric folds—that make a portrait feel alive. My philosophy is simple: 'Rango mein uljhi wo, khud ko talashti rehti hai' (Lost in colors, I am always searching for myself). I treat every family, pet, or spiritual portrait with the same level of care, whether it is a small A4 sketch or a larger, complex composition. If you have a specific vision or a collection of photos you want to combine into one masterpiece, let us talk about how to bring that to life.
