About Architectural Design for New Construction
We see architecture as a slow, thoughtful journey. For us, the process is as important as the final building. We spend time understanding how people live and how a space might grow with them over the years. True comfort, not just luxury, comes from how you experience light, space, and honest materials every day.
What Drives Our Work
- Natural light isn’t just a feature, it’s a material for us. We use skylights, slim window openings, and sunlit courtyards to give spaces character and mood.
- Materials like concrete, hand-chiseled stone, and custom metal screens aren’t hidden or disguised; they’re shown off for their natural beauty and the handiwork behind them.
- We pay attention to where a building sits - what’s around it, the history of the place, even the existing trees. This context-driven design shapes our projects, whether it’s a home or a public space.
What We Build
We handle custom residential architecture, commercial spaces (like microbreweries with balconies for city views), and public landmarks. We don’t follow templates. Each project, like a museum that brings people in from the street or a house that grows with its owners, is a one-off.
Our Philosophy
Not everything is instant. Good buildings come from persistence and celebrating the making, not just the result. We show the process, the rough textures, and the little marks left by human hands. That’s what gives a place its soul.

My Story
We’re Mathew and Ghosh Architects—Soumitro here, with Nisha. Bengaluru’s been our home for 30 years, watching the city grow, change, get noisier, and we’re in the thick of it. We don’t hide from the chaos, we try to find beauty in it. What really gets us going is the process, the people on site, the old buildings with stories waiting to be heard. Sometimes it’s like digging for treasure, not tearing things down. Architecture, for us, is a slow, meditative journey with the city.
My Work
Architectural Design and Conservation - We design new buildings, restore heritage sites, and adapt old spaces for new uses. Adaptive reuse architecture and heritage building conservation are core to us.
Context-Driven Spaces - Every project starts with the story of its place—brewpubs under flyovers, homes in the Nilgiris, all shaped by their surroundings.
Craft and Material - We love honest materials like concrete and stone, and often create custom metalwork solutions for light and comfort.
Human-Centric Approach - Buildings should grow with people. Our spaces are made to evolve, not stay static.
Team and Collaboration - It’s never just us—our team and the craftspeople on site bring every project to life.
