About
Honest Spaces, Not Just Pretty Rooms
What I do at Archiopteryx isn't about quick fixes or trendy colours. I shape interiors for real, harmonious living - where every creature, every plant, even the smallest insect, has a place. My approach? No shortcuts. I push for actual sustainability, so you'll see upcycled, local materials and design choices that truly last.
Beyond Surface-Level Design
If you're thinking of picking cushions, this isn’t that. I dive deep into the bones of a space - changing layouts, knocking down and building walls, sometimes even adding new floors. It’s adaptive reuse interiors, not just decoration. Every project starts with hand-drawn sketches and grows into a unique, luxe yet responsible space.
Space as Sculpture
For me, walls, stairs, and ceilings aren’t just background. They're the art. Expect things like:
- Artistic staircases design: Concrete cantilever steps, folded metal forms
- Walls that curve, hold memories, or make space for a quiet nook
- Ceilings with brick vaults or earthen pots, sometimes home to birds
- Skylights cut at angles, letting sunlight and shadows play
- Water bodies fed by rain, designed for aquatic life and birds
Material Choices That Matter
I hunt for materials that tell a story - repurposed wood from old homes, local stone, exposed brick, raw concrete, metal, and upcycled bits like broken China. This is a sustainable material palette, not just a style.
Furniture That Belongs
Every fixture, every shelf, bathtub, or door is integrated architectural furniture. Nothing is an afterthought. Even a simple handrail might channel rainwater or frame a view. If you want spaces that don’t look like anyone else's, this is what I do.
