I don't design for awards, but it is gratifying to see our philosophy of harmonious living recognized by publications and platforms that matter.

I was thrilled to receive the Crompton Goodhomes Award for the People Tree House project.

The award for Spatial Balance from the Goodhomes Awards recognized the project's unique architectural composition and design.

The People Tree House was featured on the influential design platform Dezeen for its focus on nature, form, and quality of life.

FuturArc, the voice of Green architecture in Asia-Pacific, featured the People Tree House in a special edition on inclusive and ecological design.

About this collection

These features validate my core belief that sustainable architecture can be both raw and beautiful. When I designed the People Tree House, the goal was not to win a trophy, but to prove that a home can function as a genuine sanctuary for both the human family and the local ecology.

Architecture with a Conscience

Recognition from platforms like Dezeen and FuturArc matters because it highlights that sustainable design is not just a trend or a marketing term. It is a necessary shift in how we inhabit space. My work, particularly projects like the People Tree House in Noida, focuses on adaptive reuse and biophilic design.

Why This Recognition Matters

  • Spatial Balance: Receiving the Crompton Goodhomes Award for Spatial Balance was particularly meaningful. It acknowledged that the composition of a room—how light interacts with walls and how volumes are connected—is as critical as the square footage itself.
  • Inclusive Ecology: Being featured in FuturArc allowed me to discuss the responsibility we have as architects to preserve biodiversity. This is not about 'green-washing'; it is about designing structural elements that welcome birds, insects, and plants into our daily lives.
  • The Ethno-Modern Aesthetic: My projects are rarely uniform. By blending vernacular stone walls with modern, sculptural staircases, I aim to create homes that feel like they have grown out of the earth rather than just placed on a plot.

My Design Process

I believe in messy, hand-drawn sketches. Every project begins by studying the local flora and fauna. If we are working in Hyderabad or the Delhi NCR, we look at the climate, the path of the sun, and the indigenous materials available. We then create integrated architectural furniture, from custom masonry bathtubs to rainwater-fed ponds, ensuring that every corner of the home serves a purpose for all inhabitants—human or otherwise.

I'm not into trophies for the sake of the mantelpiece. My focus is on creating raw, honest spaces that honor the planet as much as the people living in them. If you want a home that challenges the standard cookie-cutter approach and embraces real sustainability, I'd like to hear your ideas.
