Contemporary fusion outfits that blend traditional heritage with modern silhouettes, perfect for your engagement, sangeet, or reception.

From my Bangalore Times Fashion Week collection, this Indo-Western look features a light pink kurta and pants layered with a long, embroidered overcoat. It's a stylish and contemporary option for any celebratory event.

This groom wears a custom-designed mint green bandhgala suit. The clean lines and unexpected color make it a modern statement, perfect for a daytime wedding event or reception.

A full-length view of the layered Indo-Western outfit from the runway. The combination of the soft pink kurta with the structured, embroidered overcoat creates a look that is both elegant and fashion-forward.

About this collection

Choosing an Indo-Western outfit is about finding a balance where you feel like yourself but still look ceremonial. For these looks, I focus on layering, such as pairing a solid, breathable kurta with a structured, embroidered overcoat, so you stay comfortable through long reception hours while keeping a sharp silhouette.

When I design your Indo-Western piece, we start by looking at the event's scale and your personal comfort level. A bandhgala or layered sherwani should not feel like a costume, which is why I prioritize the fit and fabric weight first.

Layering and Structure: For the runway-featured pink and cream looks, I use a base of lightweight, breathable silk for the inner kurta. The outer layer, whether it is a long jacket or an open-front sherwani, is structured with fusing to hold its shape. This ensures the outfit looks crisp from the sangeet to the reception's end.

Custom Color Palettes: While traditional reds and golds have their place, many of my clients prefer mint greens, soft pastels, or slate greys for engagement ceremonies. I work with you to pick a palette that complements your partner's outfit without being overly matched. For those choosing a bandhgala, I often replace standard buttons with concealed plackets or antique metal accents for a subtle, high-end finish that sets the outfit apart from off-the-rack alternatives.

The Fit Process: Every piece involves at least two rounds of fittings. Because I cut these silhouettes closer to the body than a traditional sherwani, precise measurements are critical. We focus on the shoulders, collar height, and how the overcoat sits over the kurta to ensure a sharp, modern appearance. If you have a specific vision or a color story in mind, let's discuss how we can adapt these fusion silhouettes to your event.
