About From My Sketchbook & Workshops

I never start a complex bridal design or deity portrait directly on skin without a paper draft. Sketching helps me perfect the proportions, density, and flow of the art before the henna ever touches your hand. Whether it is a custom couple scene for an engagement or a new Shrinathji figure, this step ensures the final work is as balanced as it is beautiful.

My approach to henna is a form of prayer. Before I create a final piece, I spend hours in my sketchbook. This practice is the foundation of my work, and it is exactly what I teach in my professional mehandi workshops.

The Sketchbook Philosophy

Drawing on paper allows me to handle the cone with confidence later. When you see the portraits of Radha-Krishna or Ganpati Bappa on skin, you are seeing the result of those practice hours. I use these sessions to experiment with negative space and intricate shading techniques, which I then translate into the 'Sketch Mehandi' style that my clients love.

Professional Workshops

I conduct hands-on training sessions in Surat, Mumbai, and online for aspiring artists. We don't just talk about patterns; we focus on the mechanics of drawing figures, understanding facial proportions, and building the steady hand required for bridal-grade work. My goal is to help you find your own style, just as I found mine in the devotion of Shrinathji.

Whether you are a fellow artist looking to master portraits or a client curious about how your custom design takes shape, I am happy to share this journey with you. Every workshop is an opportunity for me to pass on the knowledge that I have gathered over years of practice.

Namaste, I am Anupama. For me, the journey of a design starts long before the cone touches skin. Whether I am drafting a new Shrinathji portrait in my sketchbook or teaching students in Surat and Mumbai, every line I draw is a piece of my devotion.
