About Indian Soul, Global Finish
Bringing traditional art into a modern home is not just about hanging a painting on the wall. It is about creating a conversation between the old and the new. When I use a Kerala Mural or a Tanjore piece, I ensure the surrounding materials like PVD-coated metal trims or Italian marble act as a quiet frame. You do not want the art to fight with the room; you want it to define the room’s soul. We look at the lighting, the texture of the wall, and the scale, because ye actually itna aasaan hota nahi hai—it takes a precise balance to make it feel like a home, not a gallery.
My design philosophy for this cluster is simple: tradition should not feel dated. It should feel like it belongs in the modern world. Whether we are integrating the vibrant colors of Madhubani from Bihar or the intricate, narrative-driven Pattachitra from Odisha, the goal is always to treat these art forms as the centerpiece of a luxury environment.
How We Achieve the Balance
- Material Dialogue: I believe in letting the art breathe. If we are using a heavy traditional piece like a Tanjore painting, the surrounding architecture needs to be crisp and minimal. We use materials like matte-finish veneers or subtle Italian marble to provide a neutral backdrop that highlights the craftsmanship of the art.
- Lighting Strategy: Art needs to be seen. I design specific cove lighting or focused COB spotlights that make these traditional murals pop, especially in the evening. It transforms a static painting into a dynamic feature of the room.
- Custom Integration: We do not just buy art; we commission it to fit the space. Whether it is a wall-to-wall Kerala Mural in a lobby or a small, framed Gond art piece in a study, the size and the frame are custom-made to ensure the proportions are perfect.
Ultimately, this is about storytelling. I help you select the art form that speaks to your personality, then build the architecture around it so that your home feels uniquely yours—rooted in Indian tradition, yet finished with a global standard of comfort and elegance.
