Global Design Journeys
Great design does not happen sitting at a desk. I travel to find the materials, textures, and smart innovations that make a space truly international. Here is a look at what I bring back from the world stage to your home or office.
This video takes you with me to Salone del Mobile in Milan. At Sitab Lab, I explored a designer's playground of innovative and sustainable materials, from acoustics and textured metals to recycled surfaces.
At Salone del Mobile, I was captivated by the earthy, poetic touch of a Turkish brand. I loved how they combined materials, like a wooden table with a handmade pottery base, to create something so well-settled and beautiful.
In this video from Salone del Mobile, I share a new find: JOC, a brand from Portugal. Their collection, done in shades of off-white with unique materials like wood and cement plaster, exudes a quiet luxury that aligns perfectly with my design philosophy.
Spotted at Salone del Mobile in Milan: an innovative balcony railing that transforms into a full glass cubicle. This is the kind of smart, elegant design for outdoor living that inspires my work.
This is a glimpse from my vlog in Doha, Qatar. Traveling to different cities and experiencing their design culture is a huge part of my creative process, and I love sharing those journeys with you.
About Global Design Journeys
When I visit trade fairs like Salone del Mobile in Milan, I am not just looking for trends. I am hunting for material innovations, like acoustic panels or textured metals, that we can actually adapt for your project. If you see something here that sparks an idea, let's talk about how we can source or implement that look for your specific space.
I believe that to stay relevant, a designer must be a student of the world. My travel is not just about taking photos, it is about deep-diving into how global brands handle space, light, and functionality. When I walk through fairs like Salone del Mobile in Milan or explore design studios in Doha, I am looking for the 'why' behind the design.
For instance, take that balcony railing I spotted in Milan. It was a simple, mechanical innovation that transforms a railing into a full glass cubicle. That is the kind of practical, smart solution I love to bring back to Indian projects. We often think such things are only for international magazines, but they are very much achievable if you know how to detail them correctly.
My process here is to filter global noise and find the gold. Whether it is a Portuguese brand like JOC that masters the off-white minimalist aesthetic, or new recycled materials from Sitab Lab that bring texture to a wall without being overpowering, I look for items that serve a purpose. My goal is to bring these international sensibilities—clean lines, materiality, and clever layouts—to your project, whether it is a retail store, a hotel, or your own home. If you want a space that feels fresh, international, and smart, let us start by looking at these concepts together.
