Writing is a muscle that needs regular exercise. Whether you have a manuscript in progress or just a glimmer of an idea, my mentorship program helps you find your unique voice and navigate the path to publication.

A glimpse into my process and how I approach storytelling, filmed during a session at the Bangalore Literature Festival. I believe that to mentor writers, one must constantly engage with the craft. In the Attic, we move beyond simple ideas to explore the complex layers of plot, character, and social context that make a story resonate.

We are thrilled to announce our upcoming season. This 12-week, fully online program is designed to fit into your life, wherever you are. If you have a story to tell and are ready to do the work, this is your call to begin.

A look inside a live session with our Season 10 writers. We keep our cohorts small, ensuring every writer gets heard, receives personalized feedback, and becomes part of a close-knit community. This is not a lecture; it is a conversation.

We connect our writers directly with the publishing world. Here, we welcomed literary agent Anish Chandy to an exclusive "60 Minutes at the Attic" session. These interactions provide practical, real-world knowledge on how to navigate the path to publication.

A proud moment for the Attic. Our Season 1 alumnus, Vestin Varghese, saw the first edition of his debut children's novel sell out within a month of its release. We are committed to helping writers not just finish their manuscripts, but also find their audience.

I wrote 'Quota Girls' to explore the realities of caste discrimination faced by young adults in professional colleges. As writers, we have a responsibility to engage with the world around us and give voice to marginalized stories. This is the kind of empathetic, impactful writing we nurture at the Attic.

We conclude each season with a public showcase, celebrating the graduation of our writers. This online reading event is the culmination of 12 weeks of intense work, giving our new authors a platform to share their voices with the world.

About Featured

Writing is lonely work, but you do not have to do it by yourself. In our 12-week mentorship seasons, we focus on the mechanics of storytelling and the discipline of showing up, keeping our cohorts limited to just 10-12 writers so that every manuscript receives the intense, one-on-one editorial feedback it needs to become publishable.

Think of this program as a writing gym. We do not just talk about the theory of writing; we do the work. Over 12 weeks, you will be expected to produce, edit, and refine your manuscript under direct guidance. This is not a passive course where you consume content and hope to improve; it is an active, collaborative space where I read your work and give you honest, industry-standard editorial feedback on structure, voice, and marketability.

Why the Attic works

We operate with small cohorts of 10 to 12 writers. This limitation is intentional. It ensures that when we meet for our Saturday sessions, your work is not lost in a crowd. You get the time and attention your story deserves.

The publishing connection

Writing is only half the battle; the rest is navigating the publishing industry. I bridge that gap by inviting real commissioning editors from major houses and literary agents to our guest sessions. You learn the practicalities of pitching, the realities of the market, and the nuances of how a book goes from a draft to a store shelf.

Who this is for

Whether you are working on a novel, non-fiction, poetry, or a screenplay, the core challenges remain the same: writer's block, pacing, and finding your narrative voice. If you have the discipline to show up and the willingness to rewrite, you will find your voice here. Join us to build your stamina, connect with a community of peers, and finally finish that manuscript.

I am Anita. I started the Attic because I know the frustration of having a story bubble inside you with no clear path to the page. Here, we skip the fluff and get down to the messy, essential work of writing, editing, and finding your voice, whether you are writing fiction, poetry, or a script.
