Writing Mentorship and Literary Works by Anita Nair
Mentorship needs to be rooted in the reality of the craft. Before I help you find your voice at the Attic, I spend my days building worlds and navigating the publishing industry myself.
Big news for my novel 'Alphabet Soup for Lovers'. The screen rights have been acquired, and I am excited to see this story of love and longing come to life in a new medium.
An invitation to the launch of my thriller 'Hot Stage', featuring my character Borei Gowda. I was joined in conversation by the acclaimed actor Prakash Raj.
Announcing my appearance at the Bangalore Literature Festival to discuss the latest novel in the Borei Gowda series, 'Hot Stage'.
The pre-order announcement for 'Hot Stage', the third book in my successful Borei Gowda series. Writing a series requires a deep commitment to character and world-building, a topic we explore in the Attic.
An animated preview of my Storytel original, 'Quota Girls'. This story explores the harsh realities of caste discrimination through the eyes of two medical students.
A personal shelf of books, featuring my own work alongside authors who have inspired me. A writer is first and foremost a reader, and happiness is a home filled with stories.
About My Work as an Author & Mentor
Being a mentor means I am also a student of the craft every single day. When we work together, you are not just getting theory, you are getting the practical reality of writing a series, pitching to editors, and seeing your stories optioned for screen. I use the same muscles I demand of you.
Writing is not a mysterious gift that descends upon the chosen few. It is a muscle that must be exercised. My literary journey, from penning the Borei Gowda thriller series to socially conscious narratives like 'Quota Girls', has been the training ground for my life as a mentor. This is why I founded the Attic.
When you join me for a cohort, you do not just get a workshop. You get the same rigour I apply to my own work. We dissect structure, refine voice, and tackle the blockages that keep your manuscript in the drawer. But the work does not end at the final period. I bring in commissioning editors and agents from publishing houses like HarperCollins and Penguin because you need to understand the market you are entering.
Whether you are writing a graphic novel, a screenplay, or literary fiction, the path to publication is paved with rejection, editing, and persistence. My goal is to equip you with the practical tools to navigate that path. You are here to write, and I am here to make sure you do.
