Traditional Hand-Painted Indian Canvas Art

byAnesha ArtgalleryDelivered across BengaluruView full gallery

I bring our rich Indian heritage onto canvas through meditative brushstrokes. From intricate dot mandalas to the powerful energy of folk deities, every painting is a piece of my heart, created to bring calm and color into your home.

A close up of my Nataraja dot mandala painting. Every dot is placed with intention to create this intricate design celebrating the cosmic dance of Shiva.

My paintings of the Panjurli Daiva, inspired by the film Kantara. I created these two canvases to capture the powerful energy of this folk deity from Tulunadu.

The finished Nataraja dot mandala art, held against a natural background. The blues, yellows, and gold create a vibrant yet harmonious effect.

This video shows the making of my Panjurli Daiva painting. I used texture and bold colors to bring the fierce expression to life on canvas.

About this collection

When I work on canvas pieces—like the Panjurli Daiva or Nataraja mandalas—I use high-pigment acrylics on primed cotton canvas to ensure the colors stay vibrant. Because I ship these rolled and ready for framing, you have the flexibility to choose a frame that matches your specific interior style. If you have a specific deity or a traditional theme in mind that you don’t see here, just message me so we can discuss the details.

My Approach to Traditional Art

For me, painting is a form of meditation. Whether I am meticulously placing dots for a Mandala or building texture to capture the fierce expression of the Panjurli Daiva, I am fully present in the process.

Styles I Work With:

  • Dot Mandalas: I use precision tools to create geometric patterns that are not just visually calming but also deeply symbolic. These work beautifully in living rooms or meditation corners.
  • Pichwai Inspired: I create contemporary adaptations of the traditional Rajasthani Pichwai style, focusing on themes like the lotus and Shrinathji.
  • Folk & Regional Deities: Recently, I have been focused on capturing the energy of folk deities like Panjurli, bringing the spirit of Tulunadu into modern homes.

The Technical Bits: I use professional-grade heavy-body acrylics on high-quality primed canvas. This ensures that the pigments remain rich and the texture holds up over time. Every piece is finished with a protective varnish coat to guard against dust and moisture, keeping the colors as fresh as the day they were painted.

Customization: Since everything is handmade in my Bangalore studio, I am happy to work on custom orders. If you have a specific concept, a deity, or a story you want to translate onto canvas, reach out. We can discuss sizes, color palettes, and themes to ensure the piece fits perfectly in your sacred corner or gallery wall.
