Service Learning and Community Initiatives in Delhi
At AES, learning goes beyond the classroom. We empower our students to engage with the world through student-led service, community partnerships, and hands-on environmental action right here in Delhi.
Our Make A Difference (MAD) Club wrapped up the year by celebrating the growth of students from local camps. The event featured skits, dances, and songs, and awarded academic scholarships to graduating students.
The MAD Club hosted a special eye clinic for students from the Sanjay and Vivekanand camps. In partnership with volunteer doctors, we provided free vision screenings, reflecting our commitment to compassion in action.

The Reach Out! high school service club celebrated an incredible year of connection. Our student volunteers served over 150 children from a local camp through academic support, art, sports, and music, creating a vibrant and joyful community.

About Service & Making a Difference
Service at AES is student-led, not top-down. Whether it is the MAD Club organizing eye clinics for local camps or Reach Out! volunteers running art and academic sessions, our high schoolers manage the logistics, partnerships, and daily operations themselves. This gives them real-world experience in project management while genuinely supporting our neighboring communities.
Our service learning program is ingrained in the daily life of an AES student. We believe that critical thinking is best developed when students apply their skills to real challenges, from environmental sustainability to local healthcare access.
Student-Led Impact
Our high school service clubs, specifically the Make A Difference (MAD) Club and Reach Out!, operate like small organizations. Students do not just participate; they manage. For instance, the MAD club members coordinate eye screenings for children from the nearby Sanjay and Vivekanand camps, partnering directly with volunteer medical professionals. This requires them to handle communication, scheduling, and on-site coordination. It is a powerful way to turn empathy into organized action.
Sustainability and Local Engagement
Service extends to our planet too. During Earth Day, our middle schoolers and design students focus on the circular economy. We host T-shirt swaps to combat fast fashion and bring in local artisans, such as cobblers and tailors, to teach our community about repairing rather than replacing. It is a practical, hands-on lesson in local sustainability.
Why This Matters
When you join our community in Chanakyapuri, you are joining a network that values active citizenship. We provide the platform and the resources, but the initiatives are driven by student passion. Whether it is mentoring younger students, providing academic support, or spearheading environmental awareness, our goal is to nurture leaders who understand that their actions have immediate, measurable consequences in the world around them.
American Embassy School
We are AES, a diverse community right here in the heart of Chanakyapuri. For over 70 years, we have brought together families from 70 different countries to learn, grow, and serve together. We do not just teach the curriculum; we build a culture where every student is encouraged to make a genuine impact.
