Commercial Design: The Veneer Boutique
This 1,500 sq. ft. boutique in Jayanagar isn't just a retail store; it is a sensory experience where the veneers themselves become sculptural art. We turned a standard commercial requirement into an immersive narrative of textures, light, and natural grain.

Large, curved veneer panels are displayed like works of art, showcasing the beauty and versatility of the material. The dramatic lighting highlights the unique grain and texture of each piece.
The showroom features custom-designed storage and display units. Here, a large wooden chest of drawers sits in front of a slatted screen, demonstrating different ways to use wood and veneer.
A custom-designed swing bench, suspended from the ceiling, sits before a backlit veneer wall art piece. This feature creates a memorable and interactive moment within the showroom.

About Commercial Design: The Veneer Boutique
Designing for retail is about balancing traffic flow with product immersion. Here, we moved away from standard shelving to create a fractal-inspired layout that guides you through the space. By utilizing backlit installations and suspended swings, we transformed the product itself into a focal point, inviting customers to stop, touch the wood, and truly engage with the craftsmanship of every veneer piece.
When we approach commercial interior design, our goal is to move beyond the traditional 'storefront' mentality. For the Veneer Boutique project, the challenge was to display a vast range of heavy-duty materials without making the 1,500 sq. ft. floor area feel cluttered or like a warehouse.
We implemented a sequencing strategy where the space opens up in pockets, allowing for focused discussions rather than just a walk-through. The core of the design relies on what we call 'material-driven architecture.' Instead of hiding the veneers in racks, we used them to clad structural elements, create geometric feature walls, and build partition screens. This allows clients to see the material not just as a flat sample, but in its finished, applied state.
Key design interventions included:
- Sculptural Displays: We used large-format veneer panels as floating art pieces, allowing the grain and texture to take center stage under specific, warm-spectrum lighting.
- Fractal Layout: The floor plan was designed with non-linear paths, encouraging visitors to discover different material zones at their own pace.
- Biophilic Integration: To ensure the space didn't feel cold or sterile, we integrated soft, earthy tones and custom-designed seating nooks where clients could comfortably review samples over a cup of coffee.
For businesses looking to elevate their customer experience, we believe your space should be the best employee you have. It needs to tell your brand story from the moment someone walks through the door. Whether it is a boutique, a cafe, or an office, we bring the same attention to detail—from structural planning to the final coat of finish—to every project we undertake.
