From housewarming ceremonies to baby showers and festive family gatherings, I create custom ensembles that capture the spirit of your celebration. Let’s design an outfit that celebrates your unique style and traditions.

Bhavana celebrating her housewarming ceremony in a beautiful lavender Kanchivaram saree. I designed a matching blouse with intricate silver and lavender thread embroidery on the sleeves.

About Outfits for Special Occasions

When we plan your outfit, we focus on the specific function of the event. For a baby shower or housewarming, I prioritize comfort and breathable fabrics like soft organza or silk-cotton without sacrificing the traditional aesthetic. I often suggest features like scalloped hems or intricate, lightweight beadwork that add elegance while ensuring you can move easily and feel relaxed throughout your celebration.

My approach to special occasion wear is about balancing the grandeur of traditional Indian attire with the practical needs of the event. A housewarming or a puja requires a look that is elegant yet allows you to participate in rituals comfortably. I focus on creating silhouettes that are timeless, drawing inspiration from classic South Indian aesthetics while incorporating modern design elements like unique necklines and back detailing.

The Design Process

It starts with a conversation. We discuss the event, the time of day, and the level of ceremony involved. For festive family gatherings, we might lean towards vibrant colors and rich Zardosi work. For more intimate moments like a baby shower, we might focus on lighter textures and delicate Aari embroidery. We bring your ideas and my craft together to ensure the final piece feels like it was made specifically for you.

Fabric & Finish

I use premium bases like Raw Silk, Organza, and Silk-Cotton. Every piece is constructed with double lining—using cotton and butter crepe—to ensure it sits beautifully on your skin without irritation. Whether you need a full Kanchivaram ensemble or a custom-designed blouse to pair with a family heirloom saree, the fit is the priority. I include two rounds of trials to ensure the outfit is perfect.
