Classical Dance Training (Bharatnatyam / Kathak)
Core Training Module
- Session Frequency: 8 classes per month conducted twice a week for 1 hour per session.
- Curriculum: Strict adherence to the Gandharva Mahavidyalaya syllabus covering both practical adavus and theoretical Shlokas.
- Batch Structure: Small to medium groups to ensure individual attention from performing instructors.
Technical Conditioning
- Posture Correction: Hands-on adjustment of the Aramandi (half-sitting) posture to ensure perfect geometric lines.
- Strength Drills: 15 minutes dedicated to hand conditioning for sharp Mudras and footwork strengthening.
- Rhythm Training: Decoding complex beats (Jathis) and footwork patterns on professional wooden flooring.
Academic Focus
- Certification: Preparation for board exams and certification.
- Theory: Instruction on Sanskrit shlokas and facial expressions (Abhinaya).
Kids Foundation Program (4-7 Years)
Foundational Skills
- Motor Coordination: Drills designed to synchronize hand gestures with foot tapping.
- Discipline Training: Focus on classroom etiquette and holding static poses to improve concentration.
Cultural Basics
- Traditional Greetings: Teaching the Bhoomi Pranaam (salutation to Earth) and correct Sanskrit pronunciation.
- Postures: Introduction to basic sitting stances (Araimandi) and hand gestures (Hastas).
- Context: Use of mythological storytelling to explain the meaning behind dance moves.
Class Features

Mayurbhanj Chhau Workshop

My Approach
Dance is for everyone. At Abhibhava Art Academy, I treat every student like family - whether you’re a total newbie or already know your way around the stage. I’m strict about technique because, honestly, ek galat aadat body mein ghus gayi toh nikalna mushkil hai (if a wrong habit enters the body, it’s tough to remove). So, expect me to correct your posture and lines every single time.
What We Offer
- Main focus on Bharatanatyam, but you can also learn Kathak, Mohiniyattam, Mayurbhanj Chhau (workshops), Indian Folk & Garba, and Semi-Classical.
- Classes for all ages and skill levels - from tiny tots to adults, beginners to advanced.
- Both online and in-person sessions at our Mumbai studios.
How We Train
- Deep dive into basics: Aramandi (half-seating posture), Adavus (basic steps), Mudras & Abhinaya (hand gestures and expressions).
- Hands-on correction for posture, alignment, and geometrical lines.
- Warm-ups and conditioning to build strength and flexibility.
- Choreography training - from Pushpanjali to Varnams, all crafted by our gurus.
Beyond Classes
- We push you to perform on stage, not just practice in the studio. Our students have won awards at national festivals - bas dil khush ho jaata hai (my heart feels happy).
- If you want formal recognition, we offer Indian classical dance certification through Akhil Bhartiya Gandharva University.

My Story
We started Abhibhava Art Academy with a simple dream - ek sahi wala Indian Performing Arts ka ghar (a real home for Indian Performing Arts) in Mumbai. Jisha, me, and our guru team, we all just love being with our students - from tiny kids to seniors. When they win on stage, bas, dil khush ho jaata hai (heart feels so happy). This place is more family than class, and we celebrate Indian dance together.

Dance Styles We Teach - We run offline classes in Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Mohiniyattam, Kuchipudi, Mayurbhanj Chhau, Semi-Classical, Indian Folk, and Garba for all ages.
How We Teach - Technique is everything here. Aramandi mat kharab karo! (Don’t spoil your posture!) We stress on correct basics and practice.
Batches for All Levels - Never danced? No tension. We have beginner, advanced, kids, weekends, and evening batches for everyone.
Get Certified - Our courses are structured and students can get certified with exams from Akhil Bhartiya Gandharva University.
