About Individual Portraits: Women
I work primarily with graphite and charcoal on acid-free cartridge paper, specifically focusing on the tiny details like jhumka designs and saree patterns that make a portrait stand out. Each sketch is finished with a fixative spray, which means your portrait stays smudge-free and doesn't yellow over time when you frame it for your home.
When you commission a portrait from me, the process is straightforward. I start with a clear, high-quality reference photo provided by you. My goal isn't just to copy an image, but to translate it into a realistic pencil drawing using layers of shading. I pay close attention to facial features, light and shadow play, and the texture of clothing and jewelry.
I use professional-grade materials like Brustro or Fabriano cartridge paper, which holds up well to the pressure of detailed shading. Since these are individual portraits, I often highlight subtle elements like the pattern on a dupatta or the intricate work on earrings, which really brings the drawing to life.
Once the artwork is complete, I sign and date it before applying a fixative layer. I ship my work all across India in sturdy PVC tubes, so your portrait arrives safely and is ready for framing. If you are looking for a unique gift for a family member or a special piece for yourself, a hand-drawn graphite portrait captures a sense of realism that a photo often misses.
