Hands-on Music Workshops in Mira Road & Vasai
Music is for everyone, and our workshops prove it. Whether you are curious about the flute, want to master guitar chords, or just love a good jam session, join us for a hands-on experience at our Mira Road and Vasai studios.
Experience the energy of our teacher and student jam sessions. This is where learning comes alive, as you watch, listen, and feel the music up close in a relaxed, supportive setting. You can see our branded TAMA drum kit right in the middle of the action.
Our flute guru, Gopal Prasad Ji, shares the 'baareeki' or fine details of playing. In our workshops, you learn essential blowing practice and how to tune your breath to the tanpura, a foundational skill for Indian classical music.
This is an example of our free introductory guitar workshops. We regularly host these sessions led by our expert teachers, Froilan, Ashley, and Mihir, to give you a no-pressure start to your guitar journey.
Every workshop ends with a live performance from our teachers' band. It's our way of sharing our passion and showing you what's possible. It's always a fun, high-energy conclusion to the session in our sound-treated studio.
A glimpse into the intimate setting of our workshops. With small groups, everyone gets a front-row seat and the chance to ask questions directly, ensuring no one gets left behind.
About Featured
Our workshops are designed to get you playing from day one, rather than just listening. In our Sunday group sessions, you will find floor seating and a relaxed atmosphere where you can pick up instruments like the keyboard, guitar, or tabla to try them out yourself. We keep groups small and the energy high, wrapping up every session with a live performance by our teachers so you see exactly where your practice can take you.
At Zen Music Academy, we believe learning music is about more than just theory. It is about understanding the 'bariiki' of your instrument, which is why our Sunday workshops are formatted to be fully interactive.
What to Expect
When you walk into our studio, expect to leave the fancy jargon at the door. Our Sunday group sessions are open to everyone, from absolute beginners to those hitting a plateau in their learning. You get access to house instruments, including keyboards, guitars, and tablas, during the session.
Why Join Our Workshops
- Technical Depth: If you are learning the flute, you will get into the specifics of blowing practice and matching your 'Sa' with the Tanpura, guided by Gopal Prasad Ji.
- Rhythm Foundations: For our percussion students, Ravi Vijay Indorekar brings 30 years of experience to help you master the tabla or dholak.
- Real Jamming: Every session concludes with a live performance by our teacher band. It is not a formal recital but a raw, energetic jam that shows you the possibilities of your instrument.
Our Approach
We host these sessions in our air-conditioned, sound-treated rooms in Mira Road and Vasai. We keep the groups to 15-25 participants to ensure you have the chance to ask questions and get direct feedback. If you find yourself enjoying the group environment but want a more focused path, we can also discuss our 1-on-1 trial sessions where we evaluate your rhythm sense and finger dexterity to build a custom roadmap for your journey.
