Experience the depth of traditional rhythm. I present solo recitals featuring complex compositions from the Farukhabad, Punjab, and Banaras gharanas.

Presenting a 'Chand Rela' during a solo performance at the Swaranubhuti concert. This is a complex composition that requires speed and clarity, creating a cascade of resonant sounds.

A happy moment during my tabla solo at the Swarzankar Music Festival in Pune. The energy of a live audience is what brings the music to life.

Here I am playing a 'joda' composition from the Punjab gharana, taught by Ustad Firoz Khan Sahab. I have added my own small twist in the tihai, the concluding rhythmic phrase.

This is a clip from a solo performance where I am presenting a traditional Gat from the Farukhabad gharana, a style passed down by the great Ustad Amir Hussain Khan Sahab. It showcases the intricate fingerwork and powerful rhythm that is central to my solo recitals.

Playing a beautiful 'Rela' composition by my elder brother, Shri Kedar Mukadam bhaiya, a professor at MS University, Vadodara. It's always a pleasure to play compositions from contemporary masters.

About Tabla Solo Recitals

A true solo recital is a dialogue between the tabla and the melodic cycle. When you book a recital with me, I ensure the Lehra artist—the harmonium or sarangi player—is perfectly aligned with the pitch and mood of the concert, so the flow remains unbroken from start to finish.

In my solo performances, I take the audience through the architecture of the rhythm. A typical recital is structured to showcase a progression, beginning with the foundational Peshkar and moving into the intricate development of Kayda and Rela compositions. My playing draws deeply from the distinct styles of the Farukhabad, Punjab, and Banaras gharanas, honoring the legacy of maestros like Ustad Amir Hussain Khan Sahab.

What to Expect

  • Comprehensive Performance: Each solo recital is a 90 to 120-minute journey. I handle the coordination for a professional Lehra artist, ensuring the melodic accompaniment supports the rhythmic cycle without overshadowing the tabla.
  • Authentic Repertoire: I focus on 'Upaj'—improvisational pieces that keep the music fresh and responsive to the venue's energy. Whether it is a traditional Teentaal or a complex Jhaptaal, the focus remains on technical clarity and emotional resonance.
  • Audience Engagement: I believe in sharing the story behind the beats. During my performances, I often provide brief verbal introductions to the compositions, helping listeners understand the mathematical beauty of the bols I am playing.

My goal is to recreate the sanctity of a classical baithak, even on a large stage. Whether you are hosting a chamber concert or a music festival in India, my solo recitals are designed to present the purity of this traditional art form.

I live for the rhythm, a journey taught to me by my Guruji, Pt. Yogesh Samsi ji. When I sit for a solo recital, my goal is simple: to share the timeless stories hidden within the bols and taals. It is my pranam to the masters who came before me.
