Smart Lighting Integration for Modern Ceilings

Lighting isn't just about brightness—it sets the mood. I integrate sleek profile lights and backlit panels directly into your POP ceilings and walls for that clean, premium look you see in luxury homes.

A simple yet stunning wall feature. We installed a circular mirror on a dark wood fluted panel and added backlighting to it, creating a warm, glowing effect that is perfect for a foyer or hallway.

This before and after shows how we hide wiring for integrated lighting. The final look features clean, vertical profile lights embedded within the fluted wall panels, adding a modern and dramatic touch.

The installation of profile lights in a false ceiling. This video shows how the lights are fitted into the pre-made grooves to create a clean, seamless rectangle of light.

Here is a useful tip for your living room. When planning your false ceiling, leave a 5-inch gap near the windows for a curtain channel. This allows you to hang curtains from the ceiling to the floor, making the room look taller and more elegant.

This video shows how to cut a channel for a profile light directly into a POP false ceiling. The key is to mark the line carefully and use the right tools to get a clean groove for the light to sit in.

About this collection

Before you finalise your lighting plan, here is a practical tip: always ask your contractor to cut the profile light grooves while the POP is still wet. If they cut it after the plaster has dried and hardened, you are inviting hairline cracks around your expensive profile lights within a few months. It takes more patience on site, but it keeps the ceiling finish sharp and crack-free for years.

Lighting design is where a regular room turns into a premium space. Most people think about lights at the end, but I plan the electrical routing, groove cutting, and fixture placement right from the structural stage. My approach focuses on two things: clean aesthetics and durability.

The Profile Light Difference

Profile lights are the most effective way to modernise a space. Whether it is a straight line running across your ceiling or a geometric pattern, the key is the installation. I use a wet-cut grooving technique for all POP false ceilings. This ensures the aluminum channel sits flush with the surface, preventing the uneven edges that are common with rushed work. We use standard 12mm gypsum board framing to ensure the ceiling can support the fixtures without sagging.

Backlit Panels & Mood Lighting

Beyond ceilings, I love using backlighting to create depth. By installing WPC fluted panels with hidden LED strips, we can create a 'floating' wall effect behind your TV unit or bed headboard. This isn't just for show—it is a smart way to hide switchboards and wiring while making the room feel larger.

My Checklist for Your Ceiling

If you are planning your lighting, keep these in mind:

  • Curtain Channels: If you are running a false ceiling near a window, leave a 5-inch gap to recess your curtain channel. It makes the room look taller.
  • Wiring Safety: I insist on high-quality internal wiring (Polycab or Havells) even for ceiling lights. You do not want to tear down a finished ceiling just to fix a short circuit.
  • Fixture Access: Always ensure your LED drivers are placed in an accessible spot near the profile light, not buried deep inside the ceiling, so they can be replaced if they fail.
