I dive into the heart of India's cultural celebrations to document the raw energy, tradition, and devotion found in every ritual, from the playful streets of Barsana to ancient temples.

A stunning portrait of a woman at the Nandgaon Holi celebration, her face beautifully covered in yellow and pink gulal. Her direct gaze captures the joyful and immersive spirit of the festival.

A man celebrating Holi in Nandgaon, his face serene as he is veiled by a translucent red cloth. This is the same powerful portrait also featured in the main carousel, highlighting its significance.

A comprehensive photo series from Lathmaar Holi in Barsana. These images document the unique tradition where women playfully hit men with sticks, recreating a legend of Lord Krishna and Radha. The photos are filled with motion, color, and raw emotion.

About this collection

When I shoot festivals like Lathmaar Holi, I don't set up lights or ask people to pose. I operate as a fly-on-the-wall, moving through the crowd to catch the raw tension and joy without disturbing the flow of the event. You get authentic, candid documentation where the ritual remains the priority.

My process is about anticipation. Whether it is the frantic energy of Lathmaar Holi in Barsana or the subtle devotions of a temple ritual, I spend hours scouting the right corners and understanding the rhythm of the event. I focus on candid documentation, which means I am often in the middle of the crowd, navigating the dust, color, and chaos with my camera.

Dealing with unpredictable elements is part of the work. I use high-speed prime lenses to capture fast-moving subjects in low light and ensure my gear is protected against the color powder and water splashes common in these environments. I don't ask for a second take. The moments I capture, such as the look in a devotee's eyes or the collective roar of a crowd, happen only once.

You receive a collection that feels alive, not just a series of event photos. My goal is to tell the story of the day, from the quiet preparations before sunrise to the climax of the festivities, giving you a visual narrative that takes you back to the place and time every time you view the images. I prioritize dual SD card recording for all documentary work to ensure the data is safe, so you never have to worry about losing a moment.
