From the rhythmic dhaks of Durga Puja to the grand processions of Ganpati Visarjan, I document the soulful energy of Indian traditions with a cinematic touch.

The energy of Durga Ashtami in CR Park, Delhi. This shot of the Dhunuchi dance, with the dhakis playing the drums, captures the spiritual fervor and rhythmic heart of the celebration.

A cinematic video capturing the essence of Durga Puja. The smoke from the dhunuchi, the vibrant colors, and the devoted faces all come together to tell the story of welcoming the Goddess.

A woman lost in the moment during the Dhunuchi dance. The smoke and warm light create a divine, otherworldly atmosphere that is central to the Sandhya Aarti.

Faith is unseen but felt. A devotee stands before the magnificent idol of Goddess Durga, a moment of personal connection amidst the large crowd.

A woman participates in the Sandhya Aarti, her face illuminated by the warm glow. Capturing these moments of pure devotion is what I love about festival photography.

A silhouette of a woman holding a dhunuchi against the bright lights of the pandal. The smoke creates a beautiful, mystical effect around her.

A stunning, detailed idol of Goddess Durga. I focused on capturing the artistry and powerful expression of the idol, which is the centerpiece of the festival.

A wide shot of the Durga Puja pandal, showing the priests performing the aarti in front of a beautifully crafted idol made of sustainable materials.

As a photographer, I often find myself torn between living in the moment and capturing it. Here I am, trying to do both during the mesmerizing Durga Puja celebrations.

A collection of images from Durga Puja, showcasing the various idols, the detailed decorations, the traditional drummers, and the deep-rooted rituals that make this festival so special.

About Cultural India: Festivals & Rituals

When I am shooting festivals, I don't just stand on the sidelines with a long lens. You will usually find me right in the thick of the crowd, matching the rhythm of the drummers or waiting for the smoke to clear during aarti. I shoot with the intent to capture the feeling of the devotion, not just the visual spectacle.
