About Sibling Love
Photographing siblings often means juggling different energy levels, so I never rely on rigid posing. Whether your older child is bursting with excitement or a little shy about their new role, I give gentle, play-based direction to capture genuine connection instead of forced smiles.
Making the Session Comfortable
I know that siblings come in all shapes and sizes, especially when a new baby arrives. My sessions are designed to be low-pressure for both the kids and parents. If the older sibling needs a break, we take one. If they want to be silly, we capture that energy.
Where We Shoot
- In-Studio: My Santacruz studio is perfect for clean, focused portraits where we can use soft lighting and minimalist backdrops to really highlight the connection between your children. It works well for families who want that classic, timeless look.
- At-Home: For a more relaxed feel, I can come to you. Your home environment allows kids to be their most authentic selves, whether we are capturing them reading a book, playing on their bed, or just cuddling in the nursery. This is often the best choice if you have a toddler who needs to feel safe and secure.
Tips for a Great Session
- Keep it simple: Choose comfortable, coordinated outfits—neutrals or solids usually work best so the focus stays on your kids' expressions.
- Bring favorites: If your older child has a favorite book or toy that helps them feel calm or happy, bring it along. We can incorporate it into the photos.
- Don't over-prepare: Children pick up on stress. My best advice is to treat the photoshoot like a fun, low-stakes playdate rather than a formal event.
