Stripping back color to let silhouette, texture, and light take center stage. My monochrome work focuses on high-contrast storytelling and defined, powerful forms.

A raw, high-contrast portrait with a minimalist and androgynous feel. The styling consists of an oversized black blazer over a simple white shirt, creating a powerful and confident look with a strong focus on form.

This look combines a bold red blazer with sleek black leather pants and a harness. The styling creates a powerful, edgy aesthetic, using color and texture to convey strength and confidence.

An artistic, moody portrait captured with a slow shutter speed to create a sense of motion. The model wears a floral headpiece, and the black and white treatment emphasizes the ethereal, dreamlike quality of the image.

A simple yet glamorous shot focusing on texture and light. The backless top with shimmering sequin sleeves contrasts with the model's dark, flowing hair, creating a beautiful study in monochrome.

A street-style editorial where a structured blue blazer and wide-leg trousers stand out against a motion-blurred city backdrop. The styling creates a moment of stillness and power in a bustling environment.

A close-up portrait that highlights the texture of a blue tweed blazer. The styling is simple and confident, letting the rich fabric and the model's direct gaze command the frame.

About this collection

In monochrome photography, the success of an image hinges entirely on fabric textures and the deliberate interplay of light. When I style these shoots, I don't just pick garments; I focus on how specific materials—like structured wool, raw leather, or sheer tulle—interact with the studio lighting to define the model’s silhouette. We spend significant time on-set managing garment pinning and steaming to ensure the fabric moves exactly the way the lens needs it to for that sharp, graphic quality.

Defining the Monochrome Narrative

Moving away from the distraction of color forces a focus on composition. My approach to monochrome fashion styling isn't just about removing saturation; it is about architectural styling. I look for pieces with strong lines, interesting lapels, or distinct fabric weights that hold their own in a black-and-white frame.

The Collaborative Process

No styling project is a solo effort. A successful monochrome editorial relies on a tight synergy between the photographer's lighting setup, the makeup artist's ability to contour for high contrast, and my choices in wardrobe.

  • Fabric Selection: For monochrome shoots, I prioritize matte textures to avoid unwanted glares and look for items that offer visual depth through pleats, ruffles, or layered cuts.
  • Lighting Sync: I coordinate closely with the photographer before the shoot. If the shoot is a moody, low-key concept, I source darker, structured pieces. If it is high-key, we lean towards lighter fabrics with more movement.
  • On-Set Technicals: My assistant and I manage the steaming and pinning on-site to keep the silhouette clean. We treat the garment as a sculptural element.

Why Monochrome Works

Whether it is an edgy campaign or a minimalist magazine spread, black and white photography remains the gold standard for high-fashion storytelling. It draws the viewer’s eye immediately to the model’s expression and the cut of the outfit. After 16 years in this industry, I find that returning to these roots often produces the most timeless fashion photography. I am currently available for editorial lookbooks, conceptual fashion narratives, and campaign styling within Mumbai and across India.

I started with just a pencil and a dream 16 years ago, and I still approach every shoot with that same focus. Styling, for me, is about visual storytelling—collaborating with photographers and artists to create images that linger long after the shoot is over.
