About On the World Stage: Festival Performances
When we bring this full 6-piece band setup to a festival or large venue, the sound is huge. To get that blend of Carnatic vocals, flute, and the western rhythm section right, we require a dedicated 90-120 minute sound check before the show. This ensures our sound engineer gets that perfect balance of traditional melody and contemporary groove before the crowd arrives.
The Festival Fusion Experience
Performing on a festival stage is a completely different energy than a seated hall. My 6-piece band is designed for these high-octane settings. We don't just play songs; we build an immersive soundscape that mixes my Carnatic training with the improvisation of jazz, the beat of funk, and global rhythm sections.
What You Can Expect
Whether it is an open-air festival or a large corporate stage, the goal is always the same: a deep, honest connection. Our setlist usually blends my original tracks—often from my ‘Vari’ project—with reimagined Carnatic classics. It is dynamic, it is loud, and it is a conversation between the band and the audience.
Practical Logistics for Large Stages
If you are planning to book us for a festival or a large-scale event, here is what you need to know:
- Band Setup: We perform as a 6-piece ensemble. This includes a full western rhythm section (drums, bass, keys) alongside traditional Indian percussion and violin.
- Technical Needs: Because we blend acoustic instruments with synthesizers and high-end audio gear, we have a specific technical rider. We need a professional FOH engineer on-site and sufficient time to soundcheck. This isn't just about volume; it’s about clarity. We want the audience to hear every nuance of the flute and the complexity of the Carnatic swaras clearly against the bass and drums.
- Flexibility: While I have a standard fusion set, I love collaborating. If your event has a specific theme or if you want us to interact with other visual elements, let’s talk. My musical family and I are always looking for new ways to share the stage.
